California Fire - Best of luck to all

Tortuga...regardless of whether you're right on the money or not (been here 71 myownself...representing agriculture...I know stuff), we are a neutral site when it comes to politics...you know this. Emotions have run high with these damn fires.



Everyone, let's keep things focused on the personal and community tragedies. Thanks to all.

I've got family and friends all over the different fire areas affected by this...Mom's family all in the Pasadena area, very good friend in the Palisades near the Village (entire neighborhood wiped out except for his house, but severely damaged by smoke/water, etc.), cousins near Pepperdine, friends evacuated from the Kenneth fire area for a time, Santa Monica next to the Palisades, Brentwood, Encino, etc.


I certainly understand the frustration, anger sadness, etc. folks have...and we can all speculate about the causes (ignition, spread, etc.). Up here in Fresno, we watched as our beloved Sierra between the parks (Yosemite and Sequoia/Kings Canyon) burned for weeks on end, with folks losing their homes, etc. And Paradise (Camp Fire) is only now starting to rebuild...Santa Rose still getting on its feet.


...and that's just California. The South (Carolinas, etc.) are still dealing with the aftermath...folks still in tents, etc.

I sympathize with you. My uncle lost his home there, as did a lot of other people.

I don't think anything Tortuga said was wrong, it's just the truth. He didn't reference any political party, just the truth.

God I miss the old lounge. We had such spirited debates, voiced our opinions, yet no one died or hated one another. Since we entered the "ERA of the offended", we've lost our freedom of speech. So sad, and we are losing our wonderful country, our rights and our culture. What Friedrich Nietzsche once said "What does not kill me, makes me stronger" So sad!

Me too...I was suspended more than few times. But the easily offended held sway. It is what it is.
