KPUTZ,

Thanks for the offer although I'm not quite at the decision phase yet. I'll be sure to look you up should I choose to do the late model Mustang route. I really like the old mustangs because they are old, loud and fairly simple. I also like the new mustangs because they are new, quiet and use new technology. Unfortunately, I really think I'll miss the Cobra look, feel, sound and exceleration. The one thing I am sure of is getting a car with less than 500 ft/lbs of torque and a FULL ROLL CAGE!!!!!!! Taking turn one at speed last weekend at Sears Point was, well.............. I'm not sure if I was more afraid of cracking up the car or myself. (but still the most fun I have ever had.......... with pants on) The legend holds up in my opinion, "Big Block Cobras are a serious handful for the novice driver!"

A "sedan" Mustang is also known as a "notchback", vs. the fastback (hatchback) version. Lighter, quicker, and structurally stronger than the hatchbacks.

Semko: ASedan....ASedan....ie; American Sedan.....not a sedan. An SCCA class involving only American Sedans like in Mustang, Camaro, Firebird. Might be a hatchback if an earlier model...not necessarily if a later generation model. Fairly quick cars, next step up being GT3, then GT2, then GT1...then...pro. Now, don't let me speak to you again.

I just saw a good reason for selling a Cobra on MTV. It's called a "Shakira" and it has a VERY independent rear suspension...over to you Jamo....

I think most guys who get a cobra don't realise the amount of attention they require. one must take into account that an accurate cobra is in fact 1966 tecnology and as such, requires quite a bit of T.L.C. Also the ammount of vibration in a car such as this always has it's owner checking for loose nuts and bolts and believe me, there are many! some in places that require the human arm to contort into positions resembeling a pretzel .

I think also it is in essence, a race car capable of making a short trip of 30 miles seem much longer due to wind vibration noise and somtimes excessive heat. Then theres the reliability factor..
these cars require a very watchful eye and always listening for a new sound and hoping you dont hear it. But how could one expect anything else from a vintage high performance race car? I owned mine only a month and had to rebuild my fe motor. It takes a certin kinda guy to be happy with one. As long as you know what your getting into before hand. And your prepaired for it you will have a great time with it.
I'm the guy who bought Duanes car in the post above. Am I happy owning a cobra?
Hell Yea!!!! just remember this NEVER pick your nose in a cobra someone is always watching!

Brizz,,,,,,some one IS always looking is SO true! When I just want to "drive" sometimes I wear a hat, pull it down low and look STRAIGHT ahead when stopped. If you look right or left, you know someone is "gawking" at you, ha ha.

If your not a extrovert kind of person, that might be one reason for selling your Cobra.

I have an Austin Healey 3000 (Mark 2) and I USED to think I got a lot of attention in that car. No comparison, the Cobra is WAY OVER the top in the amount of attention IT gets! Makes the Healey seem "ordinary".........

a cobra simply put is a labor of love . Its not like the George Forman oven set it and forget it! if you want a cobra replica that performans like the real deal ya better be prepaired to maintain it its a race car !!! When I bought mine I told the guy I was willing t pay a few more bucks for one that was mechanicaly sound . The very next month i had to put a motor in so much for set it and forget it . The bottom line is (for me at least is ) it runs great I did the work and i'm one proud owner! is it worth it ?? yes........ it is .. its a piece of automotive history that is truly an experiance. and I'd say for the most part a damn good one! you only live once .. .......if your expecting to drive and treat it like a toyota buy a toyota . it dosent matter what model either no one will notice anyway! good luck.

The guy I bought my car from built it in 84. It was mostly used to compete in the Virgina city hill climb. He improved the car but was beat by a F40 Ferrari and a Hennesesy Viper.He now owns a Viper.I paid $30,000 And have stuck over $10, 000 into it by now.My wife loves it and wanted some of the improvments but it's taking too long to arange and get things done . A second summer is commoing and the car is two feet off the garage floor.I get the "If it wasn't what you wanted , why did you buy it ?" routine all the time.Her things were the seats and carpet weren't as nice as the other cars. Mine are A convertable top and defroster would open up a lot of driving days around here. The windsheild is leaned back and wouldn't match sidecurtains. It now takes two fuel pumps to keep engine at hiway speeds,The plate under intake is rusting. The fuses are out under the corner of the hood getting rain dripping on them and I got stuck on the road once due to those fuses and fuse holder.The rear end is still leaking. Thats todays project. You don't drive for free. Either you are making payments of it's nickel- diming you everyday. "A boat is a hole in the water where you pore your money" AND the HD logo is thought to stand for Harley-Davidson but is realy stands for "Hundered Dollars"everything is a hunderd dollars or more.Hell I just spent over $900 on fuel pumps, fittings, filters, fuel line and a fuel log. and there were more expensive stuff in the catalog and I took three weeks to decide on that.And I allready had a fuel system.I've added,changed, modified ,or rebuilt the bumpers ,exhuast ,engine, wiring ,interior, dash heater defroster ,covrertable top ,sidecurtains,windsheild, seats seat belts, battery ,charging system,rear differential, brakes,heat sheilds,steering,radiator, fuel tank,master switch,motor mounts, clutch flywheel and bell housing. Still have the original wiper blades ,I think.
What will make you stop?
The neighbors think I should have my name somewhere on the #88 car.

Well, I looked at two Mustangs this morning, along with another TR6...Nothing that struck me as "I need to have".....That does not mean that TA Mustang is not for me either.....Only time will tell...........Usually not much time in between toys, as the wife sees the money sitting there unused, and starts getting ideas like remodeling the kitchen..........
