Default Steering wheel restoration

I would like to restore the original wooden steering wheel on CSX 2149, which has dried out from years in storage and needs to be freshened up. Does anyone know of a craftsman who specializes in such steering wheels? We want to keep the original wheel rather than replace it with a new one, although the Motolita wheels are wonderful. Any advice would be appreciated.

Jim,
Why not try one of the top notch furniture refinishers in your area?
Or a shop that does high end antique auto refinishing should be able to steer you to the right person. ( pun intended)

Cranky, That's a good idea! However, I flied to mention that the wood is separating from the metal frame slightly, too, so I'm not sure what is really required to fix it. A little glue may be all it needs, perhaps, and a good wood cleaner.

Jim,
There is a guy here in Madison that restores old cars, I'm talking 30's Packards, Caddies and such.. he is so good that the national car show judges send newbee judges to look at his cars to be trained by.... anyway, His name is Jack Holcomb... his shop is beside of Fuzzy's bar-b-que... I know he would know about this.. and I will find out for you Monday.....

Thanks for all the recommendations. I will follow-up on them and see if I can find someone that will do it right. I'll post an update when I have the solution. I really appreciate all the help. Jim
