And yes,,,,,I'm having TERRIBLE Cobra withdrawall pains! I can't do a thing about it for another two months or so (investments being what they are and all). Maybe I should buy a Cobra dog, ear plugs, sun glasses, scarf,,,,,,yeah,,,a red dog with a white scarf! Hmmmmmm,,,,small block dog I think would do it.

I have a small block dog. He does not take up much space, is controllable, and loves to run. He fits into a Cobra. People like Bill Wells have their big block dogs -- German Shepherds, etc. -- that take lots of space and are harder to control. I quess that is why it is harder for them to imagine a dog in a Cobra.
Of course to me the perfect engine is a small block with big block power. Also, the perfect dog is a small dog that acts like a big dog. I want a car that can run and sometimes I want to share it with a dog that is like Dixie-the-wonder dog. I have a dog that could live 20 years. I just do not want him to become deaf toward the end of his life due to too much noise.

Excaliber,
Can't help you with a red dog. Would you settle for a blue tick hound ? He's a little tempermental and missing a couple teeth. But he's a good bird and varmint dog. You got varmints in Hawaii ?
Y'all take it easy now, Brett

A bluetick will go after any varmints -- those with 4 legs and those with 2 legs. They are big block dogs.

Carroll.. ..I Got It. i have not slept nights worrying about your dog, but alas, it came to me in the middle of the night :
your new car can't be too far away now. it is time for some famous wild animal training. get a small step stool and put an electric heater in front of it on the floor in your living room . that will simulate your car seat ht with the door open and hot exhausts. then you can train your dog to safely jump over the hot pipes and into the seat without getting burned.
then, go out to Neighborhood Hardware down at Woodward and Lincoln and get two eye hooks to mount to your dash as well as a small dog safety harness. now you can secure your dog IN the car by affixing the harness ends to the eye hooks in the dash. might look a little tacky, but this is for the humane treatment of man's best friend !
after leaving the hardware, walk next door to the drug store and get a big bag of cotton puffs. use those as ear plugs for your dog while driving the car. there are plenty in the bag, so it is easy to replace them if they blow out at speed. perhaps some easy to remove surgical tape might work to tape them in the ears, just ever so softly to secure them.
now, this should work for you...but , i am still troubled about my gold fish. i did get a gimballed cup holder from a marine store for dash mounting . i have the clear glass large coffee mug so my fish can see while i drive, and more importantly, so i can see the fish. those gold fish are tempermental ya know. i have a removable top so the water and fish don't get splashed out on wot or hard braking. the earlier tartar sauce recommendation has been discarded as it clouds up the water. however, as Bo suggested, i have named one of them GIL but i can' let them 'fin' for themselves. so far my project is coming along nicely . however for the safety of the fish i will not take my innaugural test drivei til it warms up as i am fearful that the fishies will be iced in this subzero windchill weather....so til it warms up, this all remains fishy to me..
Carroll, i cant wait to see your new car though with trusty fido by your side, strapped into the car securely and humanely with those cute cotton puff earmuff earplugs....bring your fishing pole and i will let you cast for some fish in my car !! Bill, down at the wharf

Bill,
I have not previously commented on your fish since they are off topic. This is a thread about hearing protection for dogs.
If they can fit in a cup they are too small for fishing. In fact, they are too small for bait. They might qualify as feeder fishes for larger fishes. You would not use tartar sauce with them, because they would probably get lost in the sauce.
I do agree that hearing loss may not be a problem for them. They are better than dogs in your Cobra. With your 351 SVO with Paxton Supercharger, your Cobra must scream. Anyone near it or in it too long will probably get hearing loss. People do not have to see your car to know that you care coming; they can hear it from afar.
I do not think that you have to be very concerned about freezing the fish. Your engine should produce lots of heat. If fact, with so much heat your may need tropical fish instead of goldfish to withstand the warm water.
In regards to fishing, you need something bigger than a cup. One day when you blow up your engine and want to use your Cobra as a yard decoration, you can plug up the drain holes and be sure than the doors are watertight. Then you can fill the Cobra passenger area with water, put the fish in, and let them grow. With all the water in which to swim and grow, your fish may get big enough to be worth catching. You might even sell tickets to people for the privilege to catch fish out of a Cobra. You can make more money by taking their picture as they stand beside the Cobra with fish in hand. What motto will you use? “Cobra fish”, “Catch me if you can,” “Unbelievable,” “Cobra fish tales,” etc.
At least, you can guarantee that no fish has hearing loss due to Cobra noise.

carroll...how dare you challenge my goldfish's integrity...they are a gamey bunch and put up quite a fight !! they prefer worms, so when you cast your line keep that in mind, and pls don't snag a hook on my leather seats !
some folks are not taking your dog hearing quest seriously. I DO ! it is important....just like my gold fish. i got a 12 v cup heater to put in the glass mug to keep the fish water from freezing...wow, are they happy. if they could only talk !!!
dont worry about using my car as lawn decoration, it is bullet proof. and now that i am protecting the goldfish when i take them for a ride i have the DNR as well as the Game Warden thanking me and offering me front row parking with a special window tag and a sign that says 'dont feed the fish'. the animal welfare dept keeps the cats away when i have to leave the fish unattended.
i have some extra cotton balls for your doggie if ya need em...hey, have you tried kiddie earmuffs ? it's worth a try !!
hang in there Carroll....your car will be here in no time...and then you can take FIDO ot for a ride...
