How do you FIND this stuff?? Most of us are fairly competent around a garage, but what do you suppose that guy does- 15 years to build his Replica, & now he has to build a miniature driver! WOW, I bet his wife is much more understanding than mine.

Neal, a guy spent nearly 15 years working on a miniature Ferrari 312 race car (must be about 2ft by 3ft or something like that). It is totally accurate right down to the running 150cc v12, gear box, everything. It's just flat out amazing to see, and even more amazing to hear this v12 running, and the tach monitoring it's rpm's. The guy fabricated and built molds for everything on the car. I'd almost go buy a new computer to be able to see it.

Pretty incredible, all right. I saw a working miniature v-8 engine in the window of a hobby shop in Munich a few years ago. It was similarly detailed: valves, pistons, etc.- and had a spec sheet with the power output numbers. It was small enough to hold in one hand- under a foot long. It was for sale but I don't remember the price.

After seeing the guy's 15 year mini-Ferrari project with every part machined by hand, I hereby resolve never again to complain about:

1. How long my build is taking;
2. Problems acquiring parts;
3. Leg and knee room under the dash.

being a micro-machinist myself.... the normal problems are about tripled...this kind of work is just shy of amazing.. this is art in its to the empth degree

Haven't been able to download it yet, help is on the way.
BTW, Paul Bennett built a 427 engine with a 1" bore and 1" stroke, heard it run the other day, WOW! It idles just like a full size one. He runs it in his daughter's 4'+/- boat.
BOB, it would probably fit in your FIA (seeing as you like little engines)and give you more room for your feet.

You ought to consider putting four of those mini motors on each wheel. That way you can remove those front coils you took out of that Caterpillar D-11 to support that FE boat anchor. Should do great in the corners.

It took about 5 tries with some internet congestion, but I was able to see the whole thing. This fellow should take a prize for 'sticktoittiveness'. And he can't even drive it! He should work a deal with Ferrari for a straight across trade for one that he can drive! For such a singular achievement, he is very humble about it. = :-O

By the way, Chuck's Aluminum Daytona Coupe, although full size, was begun form the basics of rods and sheet aluminum, and built up over the years, although not 15 yet. I saw the real thing this past weekend with Bill Emerson, copper, Sheppard, Rick427 and...(crs). Anyway, it is also a site to behold!
