Yeah, Turk...back off.
Evan...in today's context, it's all about "branding"
Branding allows a company to differentiate themselves from the competition and, in the process, to bond with their customers to create loyalty. So a position is created in the marketplace that is much more difficult for the competition to poach. A satisfied customer may leave. But a loyal one is much less likely to.
Tons of tissues on the shelf at the market, but there is only one Kleenex.

,,I ask for a Coke when I'm thinking I want a root beer. I go to the store for "Kleenex" and walk out with some other "brand". I have noticed though,,,,,,,a lot of other brands of Kleenex aren't as good as the original (or would that be "current" generation) of Kleenex. "Puffs" are equal though (just not original)..........

Man, this really is a touchy subject. Here's what I think: We all have nice cars, each has it's good and bad points depending on your perspective. We each pick the one that we like the best and suits our needs. I guess if people like to argue they'll argue. "I'd just like to say... can't we all just get along?"

You can relax, John...no harm done.
After you have been around for a while, you will realize this kind of talk is like "going to the gym"...some of us just need to stay in shape.

Hey, do you really have an MBA?? Don't see many of those around. By the way, I wasn't referring to your level of education but rather your level of maturity.

Ernie-
I agree with most everything you said, but I take exception to your last statement. Everyone knows that Puffs are far superior to ordinary Kleenex

If you don't care then give it a rest already Even. You obviously DO care a great deal, otherwise you wouldn't be defending yourself...

That's right Doc, you DON'T see many WHARTON MBA's around...Oh yeah, have fun with those HMO's...

At the auction today a CSX 4000 series with alum 427 sold for $140k, looks like Turk and the other CSX guys will have nothing to worry about.

No. I don't think I'll ever rest. Not as long as CSX envy exists around here anyway.
Not braggin about the fact the CSX is considered a REAL Cobra. Just stating facts in the context of this thread in which the author of the thread was inquiring about the pros and cons of the group of cars under consideration the Shelby being one of them.
Qualifying as a genuine Cobra in my opinion is certainly one "pro" to weigh in the decision process.
Simply pointing out that fact in response to the author who in fact at one point thanked the contributors to this thread for the information.
Its persons who in my opinion have some inferiority complex as to their own car or harbor sour grapes as to those who were able to acquire CSXs that look to characterize the stating of simple facts about the CSX as bragging.
If I was braggin I would offer some irrelevant fact to the subject at hand in an effort to establish some personal superiority like...well...having an MBA from Wharton.
If the facts about the CSX bother you that much may I suggest the best way to cure that aggitation is to buy a CSX. Then you'll have a Cobra too.
As far as putting people into the wall all I can say is I'll be at DVSF with bells on. You are invited to find me and try. Further you can leave the car out of it and focus on just me. I got chunks of guys like you in my stool.
Sorry. Couldn't resist that last line. Heard Frank Sinatra say that once on SNL.
If you are really as "smart" as you imply you are you should be able to grasp the above concepts.
Ron: You are correct.

Don't think that will be the norm... that was a special "Happy Birthday Carroll" car with special paint, etc. may have qualified as a charitable contribution, like Reggie's car (sold yesterday).
I haven't seen all the results, but..did I hear that CSX3060 went for $235k
...there's a good investment.... sold for $265K less than the purchase price.

I thought you'd be fun to joust with, now you wanna fight me ?? I fight on the track buddy, unlike yourself who just parades your repro around on the street. You really are a bigger loser than I first thought. But hey, those are just the FACTS.

Ron,
If the "Happy Birthday Carroll" car brought that kind of money, does it not help make my earlier point?
Car is the same, but someone is willing to pay extra for it because it is something different. So, extra $20,000 paid for a CSX number could conceivably be recovered when the car is sold. In that case it just becomes an investment for future redemption.
What all is wrong with that?
TURK
