That new Stang is really sharp, lots of 64 thru 68 styling, including the Shelby hood scoops. They're going to sell a lot of them. Check this site for more pix.

For the first time the Mustang looks better than the Camaro. Wait a minute, there is no more Camaro.

Jeff, You almost got it right. The reason there is no more Camaro is because most people think the Mustang has usually looked better.

Most important thing with the Mustang is price.
If Ford screws that up, it will end up like the Camaro.

Satanpez: Ford came close to screwing up. Remember the Mustang II, or Pinto Mustang? I about puked when I walked into the Mustang studio and saw the clay model of it. Then there was the threat of making the Mustang front-wheel drive, i.e., the Probe. A loud uproar from the Mustang crowd stomped out this one. That's the nature of a corporation with cost-cutting bean counters and non-automotive planners ruling in the '60s.
Get this: We (Advanced Engineering) had a 90-inch wheelbase two-seater powered by a BDA Cosworth concept car in 1967. Product Planning said there was no market for this type of car. Duh?? And there was the real Mustang II. It was a mid-engine Mustang we did at KarKraft as a concept. Same story. Then Larry Shinoda did an upgrade of this that would knock out your eyes. Ditto.
Be thankful, though. The same company is introducing the new GT"40" and other great products. The car guys have taken over at Ford.

Tom,
I hope you are right about the car guys taking over. It used to be Chevy would come out with it's new big HP engine of 400 HP and Ford would fight??? right back with their own 375 HP. They started to get it right when they came out with the Cobra Jet but again dropped the ball. Sort of like the Giants did on Sunday.
Keep those new Fords coming,

I think the Mustang II was horribly ugly.
It did sell better than the 71-73 models.

Either:
1) The actual production model is going to look almost nothing like the concept car OR
2) Ford is going to outragelously overprice the new Mustang (kinda like the new Thunderbird), and the Mustang will go the way of the Camero.

What a bunch of "negative Chevy lovers!"
Why don't you trade your Cobra for a Vette.........

I changed my mind
Jeff, On second thought maybe the Camaros were betterlooking than the Mustangs. That probably explains why more girls were driving Camaros than guys. Of course the ultimate girls car was the Firebird.

Cranky, my first car was a '69 RAIII Firebird convertible. It was the ultimate girls car, atleast if you count all the DNA samples they left in the back seat!

Hey Pete, one way to put FORD pricing into perspective is to be dumb enough to ask about the price of the new GT40 when perusing the dealership's snakepit.
That should sober most performance buyers up smartly. The next logical choice will be the new Mustangs. Hell with no Camaros and Firebirds to be had ...where will all the domestic performance crowd turn to?
But you know that new Nissan 350Z is looking pretty attractive!.........LOL

Southernfried,
That was before your F350's.
You must have been into a different type of Powerstroking back then.
