Stush:
Thanks for the notice. I think the count is close to 2,400 but with the last techinical go around by Brent, my count was reduced by 1,300.

I have met Paul Andrews. VERY nice guy. He was in Vegas one time on business, and he decided to drive down to McCluskeys shop to see his Coupe under construction. He offered to let me tag along. For whatever insane reason, I didn't go! One of his personal cars is CSX3036, an original S/C that has just been completely restored. So, his email address of themosttoyswins is very appropriate!

Dave,
Paul has an excellent reputation....I just thought the correlation between what is being sold, and who is bidding on each item is the funny part....Although, the Barrett Jackson auction is this weekend....Could they be prodding people with the "look at what it is selling for on Ebay" ploy.......Only time, and investors money will tell.

I don't know why I keep thinking Phil instead of Paul. Thanks for the correction
Drop me a note sometime and let me know how your car is coming along!!

I believe the 427 Cobra listed is actually CSX3060, a completion car. That one has been on the block forever, recently a long-standing listing in Hemmings for (I think) $295k.
It will be interesting to see the results of a no-reserve auction on this car....knowing that it languished for most of 2002 unsold.

Karl...
Briefly, they are Cobras built in this generation (early 90's) by Shelby (and McCluskey) using unsold Statements of Origin from the original Comp Car run back in 1965 ( in the CSX30xx sequence). They were offered for sale, with much fanfare, at $500k each; several were sold.
A minor scandal erupted over whether the chassis parts were left-overs or replicas, involving SA, AC and the Calif DMV.
This resulted in a settlement with the state of Calif, wherein the MSO indicates "cannot be registered for street use in Calif."
From where I sit, they are custom-built, very-faithful replicas, signed and built by CS and carrying very special CSX30xx numbers.
...but they ain't originals.

Ron,
Does the cannot be registered for street use apply only to California?

Good question, Mike. I don't know if any of them have ever been put on the road. They're kind of like "coffee-table books"...you like to look, but you never actually read them.
I thought that a few went overseas.
I do know that the specific wording about California was dictated by the settlement of the legal action.
Karl, dunno...my guess is that it is highly unlikely that it was a car from this series at that price. They weren't sold unfinished. I remember a CS quote that he didn't really care if he sold them all, but the price was not going to move.

CAL,
DID YOU CALL AND SEE WHAT THE SMALL BLOCKS WERE SELLING FOR? OUR MUTUAL FRIEND ALSO WAS WONDERING? IF NOT, ILL GIVE HIM A CALL. I KNOW THAT CSX2192 SOLD LAST MONTH FOR UNDER 200K. THE SAME OWNER SOLD CSX2468 FOR 200K, AS HE WAS SELLING OFF HIS COLLECTION. BOTH THOSE CARS WERE RESTORED BY STEWART HALL. CSX2468 TOOK ABOUT 4 YEARS. I FOUND THAT CAR FOR THE NEW OWNER. HE ALSO OWNS CSX2194, AND CSX3242. DISAPPOINTED IN 2192 AS I THOUGHT I HAD FIRST RIGHT OF REFUSAL, OF COURSE I WAS ABOUT 100K SHORT!!! CSX2196 IS ROLLING WITH NEW "POWER". WAS GOING TO HELP GET IT BACK TO IT'S "HOME" BUT WORK GOT IN THE WAY AT THE LAST MINUTE. LOOKS LIKE BOTH 2196 & 2427 WILL BE READY FOR MONTEREY.
