Hi guys,
Just got back from a trip down the NYS thruway in which I had the pleasure of meeting one of the nicest gentlemen that I have come across in quite some time. Any of you who have met Bill Connelly will be able to vouch for me on this and anyone who has not can be assured that if you are lucky enough to run into him somewhere that it will be an enjoyable experience. I actually was there to look at the '83 contemporary that he is selling but I was also very interested in seeing one of his coupes. There were two in his shop, the one Red one that can be seen on his web site and at various tracks around here, and a partially constructed kit .
The red coupe is impressive.Very well presented, beautifuly(sp?)
constructed, and all around lust inducing. The kit was in the very early stages of construction which was just the rear half of the body on the frame with the doors in the process of being mounted. The frame was as well done as I have seen. All the welds that I could see were solid and even throughout the weld, the powdercoating was one of the absolute nicest that I have seen. Bill is obviously passionate about his cars as we spent much more time looking at the coupe than we did looking at the Cobra I drove two hours to see. Which by the way Bill took me for a test ride in. I'll tell you right now if you want the full effect of the wind in your hair then go for a ride when it is 2 degrees.
And you think you get alot of looks in the summer... try sitting at a stoplight in a bright red roadster with 8 ft snowbanks all around. We got back to the house just in time to stave off the onset of hypothermia with a well timed shot of Brandy
Well.. sorry for such a long post but these days when I meet someone as genuinely nice as Bill connelly then I feel like other people should know that it's not all bad out there.
Thanks again Bill it was a pleasure!
everyone have a good one,
Dan
