It was on the Speed Channel. The car looked great, but not enoulght time was spent on seeing it. It was the third best seller overall.

289 FIA for $157,000
CSX4000 for $140,000(was this one of the anniversary ones?)
Surprised that Eleanor remake for $170,000. I thought when they announced they were coming out with these they were going to be in the 80-100K range.

The red one ($140k) was a CSX4000 series with the alum 427 and it was not an anniversary edition.

The 427 was one of the "continuation" cars, 3xxx ser #, built in the 90's, one of the reasons Shelby was in hot water with the gov'ment.

The red 289 car was not an FIA, even though the announcers said so (probably listed that way on their shaky info sheets), just a nice street slabside.

I wonder if the guy who bought the 66 knew what a screw job he was getting, the car had 66 all over it but the announcer kept saying it was a new one, it was not worth anywhere close to what he paid, I sure hope he did his home work, but in my opinion he got a good screwing. He will figure it out tomorrow.

I thought the 289 was a terrific deal for the person who got it.

The guy I wonder about is the one who bought Don Johnson's yellow "Cuda" with all the Hemi logos, and a wedge motor under the Hemi shaker scoop. $131k, my oh my, I think someone is going to be pretty pissed in the morning.

SpitzSpitz,

You're correct. The guy sure paid a lot of money for something that was possibly misrepresented. Beautiful car but God that was a lot of money... I'm figuring that the buyer must have done some homework...
Also,I think that the announcer said that the money for the car would be donated to a Shelby charity and then the announcer said that SOME of the money would be donated to the charity.
A little confusing....

1965 SHELBY GT350 FASTBACK BID 62,000

1966 SHELBY COBRA 427 S/C ROADSTER SOLD 253,800

1966 SHELBY GT350 H FASTBACK SOLD 54,000

1966 SHELBY GT350 H FASTBACK SOLD 51,840

1967 SHELBY REPLICA 427 COBRA ROADSTER SOLD 31,320

1968 SHELBY GT500 FASTBACK SOLD 58,320

1970 SHELBY GT500 FASTBACK SOLD 62,640

They haven't posted (or I couldn't find) the CSX2xxx car.

The 427 was indeed a completion car (CSX3060)...which on paper now looks like a "spectacular" investment... it sold for half the original purchase price.

The red CSX4000 car was a special one-off for CS's birthday; had special paint logo, etc (right...not a 40th Anniv car)

a427sc

I don't think it's going to take until morning for him to get PO'd.

Johnson must have thought he had another bullseye in that Studebaker truck... $14,000. and they had to push it off the stage.. I guarantee that Don J. left through the back door...

casaleenie, I agree with you, the announcer obviously had great respect for Shelby, but admitted that he could no longer make heads or tails of what is or is not a shelby cobra and the difference from one to another, Not good for a person who respects you. I'm sure Mr. Shelby will drop a couple of bucks in the charity pot but even that was so unclear no one had an answer.

Two GT-40's

I think his words were "a clouded lineage" referring to the Cobra of Shelby.

I am not sure but I think that just because you buy something and the proceeds are donated to charity, you cannot claim a tax deduction. If that was the case, you could claim the deduction...then later sell the car for lets say cash. What you are able to claim as a deduction is the difference between what you paid(overpaid) and the reasonable appraised value of the car. Now if you want to call it an old ford '66 roadster and appraise it for a low number...then only you and maybe eventually the IRS will know.

Cool hooters!!!

Anyone check out the hooters on the blond that bought (had her boy friend buy) the GT 500 E... Can't say for sure, but it looked like her sweater said "wish these were brains"... LOL

He probably traded a boob job for the fake Shelby. Frikin' insane paying that much for a fake car. Dug those GT-40's though nice cars. That blue Cobra was sweet. Did't care much for the chrome hood scoop on the red one.
