Cool Short Run up to Pine Valley, CA. after the guys (and wives) stop by our new House.

WOW!!!
What a beautiful day!
OK, just another day in paradise!
Chris Rhodeos called me late yesterday
to see what I was doing today,
I said "nothing". Let's go for a ride then!
He invited Armond Caprio and I called Forrest
to see if he wanted to come in such short notice,
I did not have to ask twice!
We all were ready for some fun in the sun!
so we decided to get together at my new house
and then go from here to...(We don't know to
where at this point), Cory Olsen also showed
up, as he is getting ready to drop all his
savings into a new FFR kit, which he wants to
build, and if he decides on it you have our
support!
I snapped a few pictures, showed them our new home
and then we decided to go to Pine Valley
(about 12 miles from here) to have Lunch,
Armond will take Cory and I'll bring him back,
Chris, Jerri, Kathy and Forrest are all ready
to go! I'm hungry too! Let's go!
Beautiful windings roads (but not too winding
tight turns which Chris hates) thru the
mountains of the east San Diego county.
We get there, we eat, we relax, we talk
to strangers about the snakes...
We really enjoyed this day...at least I did!
After the run Forrest and I decided to go visit Mike Hammack
in nearby El Cajon/Dehesa,
ohh man what a beautiful powdercoating job they did
on Mike's FFR Frame, I snapped a few more
pictures there too, Thanks Mike and Mary for your hospitality!
We hope to see you soon in our short but exciting runs!
Ok HERE COME THE PICTURES OF THE DAY!,
in the form of an Album that I uploaded into my
site. These images ( most are 1290x970 ) were
taken with my new Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-F717
(5 megapixels!)
so I won't post them here, once there:
select Album->Jan 19th, 03 - Pine Valley Run.
you can organized the pictures by time by
selecting it by the drop down menus.

ohh what a day!

Excelent...

1. Camera--I have the same one!

2. Area to drive.

I used to drive between San Diego (and later Newport Beach) and El Centro all the time--great roads!!! Now--go up to Julian, drop down towards Borrego Springs, but ake a right towards Ocotillo Springs through the Rutherford Cattle Ranch, the state park and along the Butterfield Stage Route--all below Mt. Laguna. Oh baby--and do it fast!

Hey, were making that run next month if you are interested in meeting us at Julian or somewhere near there. It is a great road, but you need decent brakes coming down 78.

There are lots of good roads in that area. I am the only Cobra of the group. The rest are driving enthusiasts (sp?).

Jamo, they removed all the cattle crossings now and it is mostly new asphlt all the way up. And these cars sound soo good in the box canyon at full song.

Jamo,
Great Camera, isn't it?
I still have to get used to all the features is has, my old Mavica is a dinosaur compared against it.
We just moved to this area from ChulaVista, away from all the traffic, noise and polution , let us know when your car is ready to come down this way! We have quite a group here that belongs to the SoCal Shelby Club and we are having a run this coming Feb 1st! check this page for more info:

Brent

When and what time? Depending on the date - We have a great group of Cobra owners that would love to join you (and anyone that shows up) at Julian!
Let us know and we'll be there!

I will let you know as soon as we set a date. It will be a Saturday for sure. We don't really do anything up there, we just go for the drive.

Your Feb 1st drive is a good one. Although I have never heard the word bustling and Holtville in the same sentence. SCCA runs out at the airport out there in the fall.

Make sure you turn on S-2 (sounds like you are) to run the rest of the way to Ocotillo or you will miss some of the fun and end up in Brawley.
