16 inch wheels?

Does anyone have pictures of their cars with 16 wheels (Halibrand look a like)?

Where can I see them? What size tires do they have?

Thanks!

Um-m-m-m, where to start?
Having just purchased a 1982 BUTLER (think "sheep" when contemplating the former owner) I have the Jag XKE rear end. The hub carriers will permit only 11.75 wide 15-inch rims. Ron Butler suggested going to 16"---available from Trigo as well as other rim-diameters. With 16"ers, I can get up to (whatever) rim widths (14", even 18"---AND, in my case, they'll fit easily into the enhanced rear-wheel wells of the Butler. I therefore have a choice---as do you. Depending on the wheel wells on the A&B, you're pretty much freed up with 16" diameter rims. Up from there, 17"ers give you phenomenal handling (since low profiles have to be fitted), but you lose the "look" of the taller section, smaller rims of the original 427 S/C. Also, once you're committed to 15" or 16", you are going to find increasing problems finding wide tires. I will eventually go to 295's (only)---they don't make the 305s everyone wants any more (of course).

If we want REALLY wide tires, looks like we have resort to Hoosiers or M/Ts---and they reportedly wear out quickly!

Good luck,

I uploaded a couple of pics of my car to my gallery. click on the camera to look as I dont know how to put them in this message.

I have 16" compmotives. 245-50 / 275-50.

The tire selection for 16" rims is poor in my opinion. if you like origanality stay with 15". if you want performance 17". Do your home work before you choose 16.

Hope this helps.

John
