Buy a good used one. They are turnkey, and save $$$$.

Superformance and BackDraft Racing are both turn key only from South Africa, BackDraft is $10,000 cheaper in price. Superformance can be had with a small block or a big block and at first were sold that way about 50 /50. Today it's more like 90/10 small block being the choice. BackDraft doesn't recomend the big block installation in their cars and will not install one. I know a lot of people who own both cars and both seam very happy with their choice. I would have to have a big block installed, so then my choice would have to be Superformance.

Juan: BB vs sb

It's an ongoing debate. The BB's rag on the sb's and the sb's rag on the BB's... LOL. It's all in good fun. Something to do in the winter when you can't drive. That is, for those of us that live up north, Hal is probably out driving right now, lucky dog.

Eric looks like there is gonna be another bad boy on the block! Hmm two superformances duel it out on the mobile dyno at DVSFIII. Now I have to go! Eric do you still want to be the poster child of the SB Stroker?

This could get interesting! I'm gonna keep an eye on the thread......

Come on Eric......I've always figured you for a BB type of guy. You really need to come out of the closet on this pal. We all know that you succumbed to the pressure generated by your sb bros.

RT should have leaned on you a little harder

Talking Brian, LOL.....

juan,

You will enjoy working with Eric at Performance Engineering. The 418 is a beast (no kidding). If you are in St.Louis, I would be happy to give you a ride.

Brian, Brian, Brian.
When will you learn? I was going to the "light" like in Poltergeist® , when I was called back to the living. And now I live in peace with my rip snorting 556 HP 418!!

Don't give RT any ideas, I think he's going to get even with me for turning away from the force!

Eric

juan, Thanks for the compliment on my car!

GS, Moi the poster boy? You better hang that calendar in the basement to keep the roaches out!

Juan: You will be very happy with your choices on car (SPF) and engine (Perf. Engineering). They are both top notch.
As for the "BB vs. SB" thing, well, thats a personal choice that YOU have to make for yourself. If at all possible, drive one of each before you make a decision. If you want a sample of some of the "fireworks" on this subject, see my 1st thread when I was new (still am, really) to the forum: 522BB vs. 418SB. There's actually a lot of good info in the posts that followed and you will get a lot of help / advice in private e-mails (from those that don't like a fight......and you can't blame them w/ this croud!) if you post your e-mail address in your profile. Best of luck and have FUN!

Does any manufacturer actually sell a turnkey?

It was my understanding that if you sell a turnkey you then have to meet all emissions and safety laws in effect.

If I am right and someone - as in someone from the gummint- was in the discovery phase of an investigation, all they would have to do is come on this forum and ask a simple question.

If I am wrong - oh well, I have been wrong before. Once.

Suspicious in Sacramento.

correcto mundo mr buckley...spf sells only a roller chassis, their dealers do NOT install the engines/drivelines but provide a nation wide list of svt dealers, performance shops etc that will do that for the purchaser of the roller, or the buyer can do it themselves or select anyone they want . the spf dealers themselves can NOT do it. my car had two invoices when sold new: one from the dealer for the roller and then another from the engine installer who was privately contracted separate from the spf roller purchase. different company, no spf ties whatsoever. bill , spf 156

Bill Wells is right. If you want a pure turnkey car, get a pre-owned Cobra. Pre-owned SPF, Kirkham, and the like keep thair value if they are not abused. Many of the "kit car" companies are first rate but uncertainity resides in how well the builder put them together. Their resale value is less as a result. You might get a great buy at a price, but again you may experience used-car syndrome.

Carroll,

We don't like to say "Bill Wells is right".

It makes him think he's doing something correctly.

Default "turnkey"

As a matter of curiosity i love these posts, almost 9 out of 10 never go with their first idea of what they think a "COBRA" is, but get swayed by the government, first thru regulation, then all the "sperts" advice on whats best, then close friends or mentors they have, then the ole pocketbook, when the wife (if they're married has to approve the final decision anyway) finally gives the okay they find a COBRA in the garage that is a considerable different car than they first sought. good luck juanone on your decision making, it will take a while.
