JAMO - Point well taken...
CHAPLIN - None whatsoever...Maybe I didn't get my grain of salt this morning...
Maybe something a bit more interesting (taking Karl's intuitive advice ) . I just got a pre-release version of "Le Mans" on DVD. Release date is mid to end of April. Thought since we were talking old films I'd digress - - It's amazing to say the least. Outtakes and behind the scenes stuff at Le Mans back then are truely astounding.

You think they could make a movie like that today? Even at the time the cars were SO expensive it almost killed the movies budget. The cars were real, the driving was real, awesome stuff.

Can't wait for the "LeMans" DVD--been awaiting it's release for awhile
Probably one of the best "racing" movies made IMO

G.R. - Yes it is, and the DVD "extras" are fantastic...I tried to burn a copy to send to anyone interested...But it's got some sort of copy protection that won't allow me to do so...going into the basement with my .12 waiting for the FCC to come'a'knockin'...

My signature there because I like it. My signature is there because I want it there. My signature is there because I'm proud of what I have. My signature is there also in part as a spoof to all those from whom I have taken $hit over the past two years, some in good hearted fun and some not so good hearted. I know when guys are busting me in good fun and I have been around long enough to know when they are not, such as one recent new comer.
The "REAL" discussion has been going on long before some various new comers appeared. In fact many here starting capitalizing the word "REAL" in many different contexts based in large part to the once raging debate on the subject. The capitalzaion of "REAL" has in itself become a spoof unto itself around here. Thats fine. Thats part of the fun.
Chaplin: You are right in what you have said. Thank you.
Ernie: Thank you.
Many here use FFR or SPF in their name or signature. Thats OK? Right? But if I use the SAI logo as my avatar or use "REAL 1" as my signature why does that make me the "a hole?" Does acknowledging the CSX as a REAL Cobra bother some people that much? Why? Insecurity or does it make them feel better to knock what they don't have? What about if it was an original? Would that matter or make a difference. Many here have from day one knocked the CSX. Thats fine. I'll just keep pointing out the facts in response everytime. If that makes me an "a hole", well then I guess I'm an "a hole".
Maybe CSX owners just shouldn't mention the fact they own CSX's because that also may considered a put down by some to what they own because we are "making it known we have a Shelby Cobra" and "some people" don't like that. That ridiculous. In short, tuff beans.
Very rarely do I just start talking about what the CSX is. Very rarely to I raise the "facts" out of context of a discussion on the subject or a demeaning comment directed to my car/CSXs. When that happens I'll just keep pointing to the facts.
Kobrakarl: If I keep slapping "Pedigree" in their face regularly which I understand to mean I keep saying others have replicas, again its usually in the context of a disucssion on the subject. If you look carefully all my discussions regarding the "pedigree" of any car including the CSX 99% of the time follows someone, usually more than one person making some demeaning comment about the CSX or implying its just some over priced replica. So I respond with the facts.
Is it that guys here don't know they have replicas of a Cobra? Whats the problem? Is it demeaning to say an SPF is a replica? An ERA a replica etc... Am I bursting someones bubble by saying they are replicas? I have said that the CSX is by definition a replica. So? Many guys here are "proud" they have what they have and many profess that they wouldn't even own a Shelby product or want one. So whats the problem?
As to pedigree all I can isay is if guys don't like "having the pedigree of their car slapped in their face" ie. that they have a "replica" how do you think it makes CSX owners who participate here feel when the pedigree of their car and my car are continually insulted, knocked and demeaned. I don't get angry. I just respond with the facts. If the facts hurt don't keep knocking the CSX because I'll respond with the facts every time.
No. You see the "pedigree" bashing does not come from me. Not once. I have never knocked anyones car. Not my style.
This a a forum. People discuss the subject of the forum.
I try to refrain from the juvinille practice of calling others names. Doesn't accomplish much. Guys can be REAL brave hiding behind a keyboard thousands of miles away and call me names. They are welcome to call me the same names to my face personally at the FLING if they would like. It would definitely be more exciting. Except I would like to take this opprotunity to say Jamo is truly a gabastic piece of amphibian $hit
Ok. I have said my piece. Carry on gents.

Whose the newcomer toughguy ?
And as far as being "juvinille"...Learn to spell. Like I said before, I fight on the track, not in the middle of the street. If I remember correctly it was you who said you, "...have pieces of guys like me in your sh!t..." Did you come up with that one all by yourself, or was it someone else's ORIGINAL ?

Evan joined about the same time I did--spring of 2001. He has had to use several different signatures because of site and computer flubs since then--all readily identified as him. Just an FYI.

I think within the confines of two pages all that needs to be said, HAS been said and then some.
In lieu of locking up threads etc. can a friendly reminder from one of the moderators suffice if I asked nicely that we move along?
No viloence please!! Not here , not at DVSFIII or anywhere where there is serious booze, HP and testastrone present.

Go Evan,
You do a great job of expressing your views. I believe most enjoy your comments and those that don't - who cares. It is only a hobby.

JAMO - My apologies...Seems I was wrong, I just go by what the member profile states...
In any case, I was not aware that one's seniority made their thoughts and ideas more valid than anyone elses. If I am wrong about this, please let me know...It is a public forum is it not ?
TURK - I agree...I too have said my peace and will consider it a dead issue...

Keith: Thanks.
Argo 1: You take things to seriously. Your thoughts/ideas are not less valid than mine. Just incorrect.

I was very surprised about the amount of Shelby content in this issue. You had the editorial, the cobra article, a full page ad and the historical on the cobra with drawings.

Boys, stop.
Turk asked nicely....
I will delete any subsequent posts that fall into the category of a personal arm-poke across the aisle.
The topic of this thread has been sufficiently diluted to no longer serve a positive purpose.

Evan-
I'm glad you like Elanor too
How can we make this thread end peacefully? What can we do to ensure that no one will ever want to revisit this thread again?? What could be so horrifying that it could cause man and beast to flee, never to return???
Jamo I think you assolutely know what has to be done. (Please post it again- Ron won't know and besides, Turk is already moderating this thread and he loves that pic)
[Damn, I may have been foiled. Ron posted before me ]

Ron, (Computerworks)
I started this thread, and got the answer I was looking for in the first few responses... it has deteriorated, despite my initial pleas...
Go ahead and kill it if you wish, there is no good reason to have it continue. If I knew how to stop it, I would have done so myself.
Thanks again,
Dan Stryffeler

Argo 1: I don't personally think the Eleanor replica belongs in the Registry. I think it does devalue the Registry. But today everything is marketing and money. I don't like that but those are the facts in most cases anyway.
I think that the Registry should be reserved for Shelby products. Yes. However, if you are going to expand it to include Shelby endorsed products than you might as well put Eleanor in with the Chilli.
They may very well put Eleanor in a special section dealing with Shelby "endorsed" products as opposed to Shelby products. Thats how I would do it any how.
It may sound crazy but in fact I think the Registry should also include under a special section information on Cobra replicas listing different manufacturers who produce Cobra replicas and the history of the replica industry. Based on events they are now part of the "Cobra" storey and the present day world of the "Cobra."
Butt, heys. I's just a punk wit a limted edamacation. What dos I kno.
See. I'm so stupid I posted this in the wrong thread.

Sam-good effort to get us back on topic!
Agro1 - Evan was probably referring to me as the "new guy" that doesn't agree with his personality (see SPF vs ERA last few pages).
As for the topic at hand, I think we all know that the so called "recently found" Mustangs is a bunch of B.S. ..........just like the "found" Cobra's. Shelby is a business man. He knows that he can put his name on a car and just by that alone, it will sell for far more than it's worth. Anybody willing to pay 6 figures for one of the new "Eleanor" cars is simply foolish IMO, but who's to say that they shouldn't? If THAT'S the car they want and they want to spend the money, god bless them. I just hope they aren't thinking it will help them in their retirement plan, and that they invest wisely elsewhere. Bottom line is, Shelby knows there's a sucker born every minute.
I'm NOT saying that about the CSX cars though. They are probably the best "original" looking / performing Cobra's on the market today, and if that's what you want out of your Cobra, than, if you can afford it, buy one. I think they are also a much "wiser" purchase than the Eleanor Mustangs, as far as an "investment" goes. Does that make them "the best"? If that car best fits what YOU, the buyer, wants out of your Cobra, then it may very well be the best........for you. (and THATS what counts).
Evan: I'm pretty new to this forum and perhaps I spoke too soon in some of the comments I made in ERA vs. SPF. I don'y know you personally at all. I can only go by what I read, and after coming here almost every day for the past 2+ months, I formed an opinion of you from what you say in your posts. YOU are the only person I formed this opinion about which is amazing considering all the people, posts, and different personalities involved here! Am I "crazy" in thinking this..........or just perceptive? Obviously I'm not the only one who has formed this opinion about you.
I spent a lot of my life in sports, so I like to equate things with athletics. To me, there are 2 different kinds of people in this world: 1. The person that scores a touchdown and starts dancing, pointing fingers at the apposing team and calling them names, yells how great they are in the camera's, etc.......... And 2. The person that scores, hands the ball off to the ref, and trots over to the sidelines without getting in anybody's face. BOTH did something great, but have totally different ways to express themselves. Does it make 1 person better or worse than the other? No. Does it mean that they can't get along off the field? No, in fact I had a lot of friends like that and we all got along great. In fact, I had a buddy in "cars" that was like that also, and we got along for many years (still do, we just don't spend a lot of time together anymore because we're a thousand miles apart). He had a Orig. Yenko Camaro and would get pi$$ed at all the "clones" at the show. Even got into fights! I had a Orig. '70 LS-6 Chevelle and it never bothered much when guys would show up and park next to me with cars made to look like mine, but were fakes...........some not even SS cars, but had the badges and "looked good". It did bother me a little when they had their car up for sale and I knew the only reason they were asking what they were, was because of the fact that my car even existed (could probably say the same of Cobra replica's?), but what the heck. What can you do about it? If someone wants it, they'll buy it and probably get a lot of fun out of it!
Some people may attack you out of jealousy for your car. No doubt about that. Some may even attack you because of their dislike for Carroll Shelby, and if that's the case, that's a shame. But for the most part, I think it's the little "rub it in your face" things you seem to consistantly post that pi$$ people off. Some (I, for one) have probably taken it too seriously, and I apologize. I came to this forum to find out more about these cars and the different mfgrs. that build them. If I made some friends along the way,(and I have!) then that would be a bonus!. I definately didn't come here to make any enemies.
Tell you what, if we meet up at the Fling, I'll buy you a beer. If we sat and talked, we would probably find that we have more in common than we think. But, if after the beer, you still want a piece of me, than go for it. But, (unless you really pi$$ me off), I'm sure I'll do the exact same thing I did when I was in school..........toss the ball to the ref and walk away ( knowing I did a good thing.).
