Visually... I don't think there is a car that looks better at any angle than the newer Aston Martins.
ohh but Karl maybe right, there is nothing like a boat tail...

In the poll I read, it was the Jaguar E-Type that was the winner. Again, anyone can conduct a poll. This was probably 10-12 yrs ago.
For me: Mercedes 300SL Gullwing Coupe. Love the eyebrow treatment over the fenders. The cockpit feels like you are positioning yourself in an airplane seat. Hard to beat the novel concept of the doors.

It's got to be the Model J Duesenberg when all things are considered such as aesthetics, engineering design and performance. Here was a car in the '20s that could hit 120 mph off the show room floor, was the first car to use hydraulic brakes, had a supercharged twin-cam in-line 420 cubic inch eight that could rev to 4500 rpm and won the French Grand Prix.!!!
Fred Duesenberg's cars were favorites of the high rollers such as Clark Gable and Gary Cooper. A tweaked Duesy that put out 350 hp and revved to 5,000 rpm hit 152 mph on the Bonneville Salt Flats in 1935. The Duesenberg Model J was THE automotive standard of the time (foreign and domestic) and pioneered automotive technology for all time.

re :The Cord pic you posted
Was probably a great car mechanically for its day but the body could have have been designed by any 10 year old.

427mnsi,
No sparks, I just think you should study up on the life's work of Gordon Buehrig. The man knew elegance. But then, you're Canadian, and all your taste is in your mouth. eh?

Jamo.. nice Bugatti indeed
I found the site with the pic you used, and found the test drive article.. it's worth 14 mil !
My favorite on that site was this early German work of beauty and savage power... 300 BHP and 500 + ft lbs @ 2000 rpm ! Looks like an early batmobile.. and it's a convertable ! wish someone made a replica !
It's a 1930 Mercedes Benz "Count Trossi" SSK .. does not allow links to the individual car..use the site index.

I am surprised that more people have not said Cobra. It may not be practical, but I love its looks and personality.

Carroll:
The Cobra has a great shape, but there is a lot of competition out there. I am surprised at how often the Avanti has been mentioned vis a vis the other marques.

Jamo's pick of the 57SC is pretty cool, but might be "over the top". I could change my mind on any given day. The competition is FIERCE!

I'm surprised no one's voted for the Daytona Coupe, a timeless design to be sure.
And equally surprised that no one's put in a nod towards this little beauty, shown after its millionaire owner had the boys down at the race shop convert it for street duty...

Many great choices mentioned -- Miura, the new Aston -- but I'd have to go along with Stan -- Ferrari 250 GTO.
There is, of course, the 250 California. <-- click link
