Nice trailer! Blow a tire on that and you would certainly wad your car up in a hurry.

Hey Cal, I think you need to return 2189's rear flares to their proper configuration, as shown in the photo--how about we have a little "flare party"? I'll bring a 5" roll of aluminum and some shears, somebody else can bring blue paint and some rivets...we can hack off the existing bodywork and have "correct" flares slapped on that baby in a couple of hours, tops---

Default Vintage trailers...

... I would LOVE to see some the mega dollar vintage racers haul the cars on period correct trailers! Even SAI had a couple of single axle bouncers that they used to haul 'em out to Willow or Riverside. The big C series trailers went to the races.

Imagine Pete Brock with a small block Cobra on a single axle trailer behind his FALCON SEDAN DELIVERY, tiny drum brakes, NO trailer brakes and all booking out to Riverside. Surprising that there were not more accidents in route then there were....

And the pictures of GT40 Mk IIs tied down with rope or chain over the knock-offs. No wonder there are so many Halibrands with gouges and dents!

If they wanted the cars to handle differently they could just swap the springs off the trailer!

HEY DAN,
LOOK AT THE PICTURES OF CSX2192 THAT I SENT YOU. THE REAR FLARES ARE ALMOST IDENTICAL TO 2189. WONDER IF 2190, AND 2191 WERE THE SAME.I REMMEMBER PUTTING (DONT KNOW WHAT DAY IT IS, BUT REMMEMBER THIS) 800X15 TIRES ON THAT OPENNING. CSX 2194 BELONGS TO BRIAN LAINE IN WASH. ILL ASK HIM NEXT TIME WE TALK ABOUT HIS FLAIRS. WE KNOW WHAT 2196 HAS!

I know I'm resurrecting a REALLY old post here, but thought I'd let you know that I can confirm 2191 did NOT have the flares. My Dad owned 2191 when I was just a "pup" (between circa '68 and circa '73). It was not race prepped at all... Just a straight street slabside 289.

I hope you will send names, dates, and any further facts on your dad's ownership of 2191 to cobraregistrar@saac.com whenever you have a spare moment. No reason to leave him out of the car's written history, is there?

Without his approval, I won't put his name here just yet. He's on vacation for the next 3 weeks, but when he gets back I'll get some exact dates and share them. He told me that one of the formal registries did have his name listed, but that was some 15 years ago or so that someone showed that to him. Don't know if it was SAAC.

I'll also try to pull up some of the old pics. I know there are pics of it in the original Guardsman Blue, and the subsequent Maroon it was wearing when he sold it.

No need to post his name here...Ned asked you to send the details to the SAAC Registrar

There is only ONE Registry that matters.

Thanks a lot for sharing these!
I have a question that just occurred to me:
How expensive were the Cobras back in the 60s? How about translated in today's dollars: i.e. same as buying a new VW Beetle, or a Mercedes or a Ferrari? Just curious about what they were like back then.

Thank you. The baby in the drivers seat is so period. Never sure if the Dads were prouder of the car or kid. Interesting bulkhead covering.
