Thumbs up Aluminum Hood?

Just received some pictures of my hood.

Thought you might be interested.

The car is almost ready to ship. Should see it in about a week and a half.

Ron,

You did a great job!

I can't wait to see it in person. The wait for the next week and a half is going to torture.

Thanks,
Rick

I'm curious, how much does an aluminum/fiberglass hood cost these days?

John,

The hood of my ERA is of course fiberglass, but the aluminum you see on the underside is "applied" somehow.

The cost was a few hundred bucks. If you would like more information on the process, I can put you in touch with the guy who did my hood.

Regards,
Rick

Rick when do you expect your ERA to be delivered? I know its being picked up from ERA this coming week but was wondering how long it takes to get it to Texas? I dont know how your can take the suspense but from what I have seen of your cobra its going to worth the wait.

Counting down
Ron

Ron,

Peter tells me the car is by the door, ready to go.!

It's being picked up on Monday, and should arrive at our place on Thursday. I'm using Rich Lacy for the haul. He will make a stop in Nebraska on the way back, to pick up another Texas bound car.

I've been keeping one eye on the weather channel, hoping Old Man Winter doesn't mess things up.

Work has been particularly hectic the last couple of weeks, which is good, but the wait this last week is going to be tough. This weekend I've been getting ready by cleaning the garage and modifying a twin fan kit that I purchased from Finish Line, and doing other busy work.

I feel like a little kid just before Christmas!

I'll keep you posted on the progress.

Rick

RICK,
WISH THAT AL OPTION WAS AVAILABLE WHEN I HAD MY ERA. I USED UP TWO SHEETS OF THIN STAINLESS TRING FOR THAT LOOK. THE PROBLEM WAS THE COMPOUND BOW. FINALLY PUT A SEAM IN IT. LEAVE IT TO PETER TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM. A GREAT GUY TO DO BUSSINESS WITH. NEXT TIME YOU TALK TO HIM ASK HIM ABOUT THE SOAP BOX RACER HE BUILT FOR HIS SON...A WORK OF ART....MYBE A FUTURE SIDELINE!!!

Terry,

You are absolutely right that Peter is a great guy to do business with, as are all the folks at ERA. Their service and responsiveness has been remarkable, and the experience of dealing with them has been great. They also make a pretty darn good car.

Peter, however, did not come up with the solution. I stumbled across some information on this process while searching earlier postings. I made the arrangements myself, but it was painless. Peter saw it for the first time this week when it was delivered back to ERA. I have not seen it myself, but Peter was very impressed.

As for the soapbox racer, I'm sure it's incredible. I only hope my car doesn't become the world's most expensive soapbox racer. There will be a little bit of work to do once the car finally arrives. I just hope none of it is beyond my capabilities. I may have to call on some of the Houston Cobra Club members for help.

By the way, what is a caliper? I think I ordered my with stripes.

Rick

Terry if in the future you want to have the seamless aluminum applied to your hood just contact me and we can arrange it. I applied the aluminum to Rick's hood AFTER it was painted. Because our process doesn't use heat or an electric feild, there is no damage to painted surfaces and because we also do our own paint work here we know how to handle painted parts to ensure they are not damaged. So if you are still interested or would like more information just give me a call a Metal-Morphous,Inc. at 203 294-1314.

RON,
THANKS FOR THE OFFER. I SOLD THE CAR AWHILE BACK, AND IT NO LONGER EXIST AS THE BUYER HIT A WALL BETWEEN 80-90MPH. THE CAR BURNED ALMOST TO THE FRAME AS THE ELECTRIC FUEL PUMP WAS WIRED TO THE IGNINATION. HE WAS OUT COLD AND CARE FLIGHTED, AND WILL MOST LIKELY NEVER FULLY RECOVER. THATS ANOTHER STORY. I HAVE TWO CLOSE FRIENDS WHO LIVE NEAR BY WITH ERA'S. ILL SEE IF THEY ARE INTERESTED. BALLPARK COST?
