opinions aside, the only question is What makes YOU happy? If it is a GNX turbo v6 or a hardcore 427 small block, or a 427so. I really do not care what you have in yours, what you want and I want could be two seperate things. I might want a mild chebbie with a stretched wheelbase as a daily driver, you may want a period correct replecation of an original. I really do not think there is a "correct" answer, just what works for you.

ScottJ: has never met me in person.

But thats OK. There is alot of 8th grade behavior here from time to time with name calling.

Oh. and if I did meet him in person my opinion of him might equal his opinion of me which he might deserve. Its a two way street as far as I'm concerned.

Those who have met me in person will happily tell you. I am in no way shape or form a pompass a$$. Maybe an a$$, but pompass? Never.

I can vouch for him. He is not "pompass".

There are too many letters in there to describe Evan.
My racing buddy!

Bill, the letters don't work out for the effect we are trying to achieve.
Take your spellchecker and stuff it in your "pous".!!

See what I mean?

As far as wheel\tire combos go. 15" is more accuarate, and being accurate IS a worthy goal. I think it's important to know as much as possible about what the period correct cars should or shouldn't have. Then you can make an intelligent decision about what YOU might want to do differently.

For me I would be looking for MAX traction in a wheel that "looked" original as possible. 16" is a good compromise here. I want the BIGGEST wheels and brakes I can get. The Excal had 10X16 back, and 9.5X16 front Compomotive BOLT on wheels. They "lool" pretty accurate and allow for some "big meats" at the same time. The more "accurate" your wheels, motor, car in general is, the more re-sale it will have down the road. A BB hands down, WILL generally bring more than a SB.

Not from me though, I'm LOOKING for a SB. I would "consider" a 427-428-429, but would draw that line at a 460 for instance. A stroked/bored 351 is the ticket for me, and YES, it BOTHERS ME that I'm "giving up" a big part of being "period correct".

Evan is not an @ss, or pompous.

Putting it so as not to offend Evan:

You know......a bonehead!

they only use cobra cars and for only 449.00 they let you bring your own on the track. They is some really cool footage on their website its about 6-8 mins long. It would be neat to set it up as a group thing and see what kind of discount they would give us they will do as little as 8 people and as many as 24.
Let me know what you guys think.
I thought about going to a school with Cobra cars, but I wanted a school that gave maximum seat time for the money spent. [Seat time and hands on experience is priceless. You can know all the theory but body can only learn to do by doing.] I also wanted to get my SCCA racing license. I choose the Bondurant 4-Day Grand Prix Road Racing School. I get seat time, first rate individual instruction, and my racing license. There are no rev limits. I will be driving a C5 Corvette and racing a Bondurant Formula One race car. I will not have to put my Cobra at risk.Another thread on this web site is currently active on people going to Bondurant.

I will take the skills learned and my car to open track sessions at Waterford and other places around here for practice. I also plan to do some AutoX. The Cobra will not be competitive but it will hone my skills. At a future point, I plan to go to an all-Cobra school. But first I want seat time and my racing license.

At a future point, I

On the resale point that was brought up earlier... I don't know that anybody right now is getting back what they put into their car, regardless of BB/SB - not that many of us built these things for resale in mind.

So maybe another way to state it is, you will probably LOSE LESS when you sell your car if it has a big block - but - you will probably have a bigger upfront cost.

If you are looking for an investment, I don't see a replica Cobra as the way to go, too many of us out there these days.

Just my opinion, based on what I am seeing actually sold on ebay, cobra country, etc. - sorry!

- Dan

Hey, that's what I'm here for. I'll be joining you at Southern Automotive, and more than likely at a DSCC lunch somewhere along the line. You'll recognize me, I'll be the one with the Small block and the Big........ (the size comments are purely for humor and in no way are meant to suggest any claim to any stature, real or imagined, your results may vary, keep out of reach of children, store in a cool dry place out of direct sunlight, use no harsh chemicals)

Dan Stryffeler, I was going to make those same points about a larger upfront investment, but you beat me to the punch.

By now everyone knows that "REAL 1" IS a "period correct" pompous bonehead a$$ with a little pecker.

But hey, we still love him, mostly because he doesn't hide the fact.

For his review; my bastard tupperware cobra from the "dark side" has a sbc and it CAN KICK his car's a$$ in ALL catagories... period.......and IT'S NOT REAL, just like his (?)

But it IS better built, better balanced, faster, stops better, even has a better gear shift knob.

AND because it's made of tupperware, it is truly a "REAL replica"

His car is not even a REAL REPLICA. How can that be right? I'm confused....

Oh well, all I know is that if it don't go...try to make it look pretty or add chrome to it.

Yours' in "unreal" cobras'

BTW Turk, can't you straighten out your people over in Europe ?

The description of your car says it all.

"Bastard replica", I couldn't agree more!
