"Proper" Tail Light Configuration?

Don't know if this is stirring up a hornet's nest or not, but I have seen several different tail light configurations on Cobras.

I have seen:
"two dots (both red)"
"two dots (top red, bottom orange)"
"small rectangle, all red lens"
etc.....

If I want a Cobra that looks more like the original (from this perspective), which one fits?

Anyone?

Depends on what YOU prefer. I prefer the small rectangle lites.

Rectangles were used on all 289's and early 427's (including Comp, S/C and the first run of street cars).
The two-rounds were used on later street cars, approx CSX3200 and up.

I thought it all boiled down to the S/C or Street config theme
I don't know if the year had anything to do with it either but I thought the S/C had the rectangular lights while the Strret cars had 2 separate round jobs on each side

I'll go out to the garage and see what's on the back of my car and then I'll let you know which one is correct...(it'll be whatever is on the back of the car)

I thought that during 65 DOT required so much viewing area from the side, making the rectangular lights obsolete. Then in 69 they changed again to require separate bulbs on the wheel wells for side markers. Then finally allowing she separate bulbs to be in the light fixtures.
