Default Do High Gas Prices make you drive less?

We all know that gasoline is getting more expensive with every fill-up. I use my Chevron gas card for all my vehicles, which means I just write a larger check every month. High gas prices DO NOT make ME drive any less, or more economically; I still drive my Cobra every chance I get, and with this warm and dry winter, that works out to a couple times a week. How about you? (Driving in general, not just the Cobra!)

Warm dry winter does not apply here. My car is tucked away waiting for April. By the way this winter has gone (very cold) it will probably be June before it sees the road.

Paul
PS: I was exaggerating a bit, but it is colder than normal this year!

Not a chance! Not even considering it.

Oh wait, I forgot, I got a company car and never have to buy gas anyway, lol.

I'm with Paul, I've saved all kinds of money because of this sh!tty weather.

Cold weather = savings in gasoline
insurance premiums
not having to answer the "is it real question"
more time on my hands than I know what to do
no wear and tear on the lawn tractor
no bills from the local golf club

Man, this Ohio weather is great!!!! And you west coasters and southerners thought you had it great!!!!!

No, just b**ch about it more.
My Lightning gets 10 to 12 mpg average and I think San Franciscans pay the highest prices in the country!
Good thing my commute is 7 miles each way

I don't drive any less. My commute is 40 miles each way, and, I drive around all day. Been rough to drive the Cobra much, even here in the sunny south, this winter has sucked!

Default Fuel Consumption

Hey

Lets kick their ass-and take their gas!

Prices will come down when the war is over as they did last time unless Sadam destroys the oil fields along with the strike in Venuazla (sp).

Drive faster and you get there quicker so that uses less gas. Right ????

Even though I live in a part of Canada where the USA is north of me, I agree this winter sucks!!!

I wonder what the price of gas will be in the spring? Even then, I don't think I will let the price of gas put a damper on my time driving the cobra.

I regret to say, that with UK gas prices, the fact that each 60 miles in the Cobra costs me £15 (approx $23) does give me pause for thought. Long road trips can hit the wallet very hard.
Track days, where I manage to get about 4mpg, make me think even harder!

The fact that I have no soft-top coupled with our climate reduces my potential usage of the car anyway!

I will drive about the same. I use racing gas mixed and haven't ordered a barrell yet but I am sure it has gone up at least $1 dollar a gallon.

SFFiredog,

What is gas going for down there now ? Up here the so called premium runs from $2.07 to around $2.26 right now and will get higher as they prepare for the tourists that seem to flock to Shasta Lake regardless of the gas prices. I could run all of my cars a year on what it costs to fill one of those big patio boats at the marinas.

Default High gas prices

For years I would buy 110 octane Cam 2 for a 440 sixpack Challenger stroked to 505 and I last payed $5.65 a gallon about a year ago back in NY. Now I have a Cobra that uses pump gas and paying $1.84 a gallon in Florida...so im not complaining...yet!
So I drive my cobra whenever the weather permits, and in Florida it's alot !!

Default NOPE!!

Actually,
The price of gas is not an issue! I drive my Cobra every chance I get, and I did not even consider gas mileage as any factor and never will. I know a high performance car in never going to match a Honda Accord, but then again you never get a "thumbs up" or people asking about a Honda at a stop light!

Thumbs up I'm still cruising the Texas hill Country!

It's costing me more to enjoy the Texas Hill Country. A 160 mile round trip around the Devil's Backbone takes three quarters of a tank of gas. It's the price you have to pay to get out and enjoy the country side, hang out with the bikers and street rodders.

My wife and I try to plan to avoid duplicate trips to the same locations and, with winter being what it is this year, I park the F150 during the really bad snows and use the four wheeler.
Planning a driving trip down south for next week so that will be an additional 3000 mi.+ trip - would rather drive it then give the airlines my money and put up with those illiterate security people.
The airlines have been abusing people for so long that they can't stop. Those lousy fees for changing tickets and taxes and security fees are bull... I swear they'd let a Palestinian on board with a bazooka and pull me aside for a strip search so they would appear "fair".
and furthermore.....
Hell!!! What was the original question???? I was on a roll.....
Oh yea! I try to drive less but it doesn't seem to work...

Thumbs down

Al,

If your trip should include any part of California make sure you fill up with gas before entering this republic. Not only are the prices asinine but the gas is worthless. You will think something is wrong with your car. Every person around here that goes out of state for vacation comes back talking about how much better their cars, trucks, etc ran once they got out of Calif. and filled up with gas in other states. They get much better mileage and power. Some people up here that live near the Oregon border drive into Oregon to get gas because it is so much better than our MTBE , smog adding, ground and water polluting gas.

Drive from home to work, work to home. Repeat six times a week. I don't see how to make this distance any less because gas is 25 cents more a gallon.
