Aluminum Mesh
Would anyone be interested in some aluminum mesh? This is the exact stuff that is sold for the brake intakes, and from the same source. I am buying some for my intake scoop and a radiator screen. I will have some extra so if anyone is interested I can let you have some. It comes 30" wide.
A 30" x 24" piece should cost you only 30.00 plus shipping. If you buy just the brake intake covers they are 24.00.
Let me know,
Roscoe

Bud,
The guy told me it's the same stuff he sells to Cobra kit manufacturers. I assume it's the same stuff. I sent him a pic similar to yours. I haven't got the stuff in yet but I am assuming he is correct.
I will be ordering it this week so I'll post a pic when it comes in.
I'm only buying 10' of it so I'll use one of the 30" x 24" pieces so I'll have 4 more pieces available.
Roscoe

Roscoe, that's really interesting. Just two days ago, a buddy down here was trying to interest me in some leftover mesh that he has, insisting that I was nuts to drive around with that big aluminum radiator just waiting for the right rock. I told him at the time that it would not look "right" and that I"ll have to take my chances with the rad. Yesterday, I was looking at the front end and I really started to wonder how a mesh screen would look in there - now I'm seriously considering calling him up to see if he still wants to make a deal.
Has anyone got a pic of a Cobra with a mesh grill?

I think if I mount mine behind the oil cooler it would serve the purpose and not 'stick out'. I've got a bit of a shroud in there so it would fit and be about 6" or so off the radiator. I will also put some in the oil cooler intake and the air intake on the hood.

Unfortunately, I have the dual pushers so the only way I could install would look like this. Don't know if I could live with that look.

Roscoe,
I have been looking for something like that around here for years. Is it easy to cut with tin snips ? If so, I would be interested in a piece of it if you have any left. If not could you give me the name and number of the place to order it from ?
Thanks,
Ron

Ron,
I am assuming it is the same stuff I used on my brake ducts. It is easily formed and cut. I should be getting the stuff in late next week so I'll contact you then.

Thanks Roscoe,
If it is then I for sure want at least one piece if it is the 30" by 24" If they aren't that big I think I can still use a smaller one and do some of what I want. I have been using the old nylon bug screens but they don't stop small gravel or rocks very well. And from the pictures this stuff looks great.
Thanks again,
Ron

I found the coolest place to buy mesh for the brake ducts. Your local home center, it's called gutter cover, comes in pieces about 6" wide and 4 ft long, it's aluminum, cuts easy and looks great. The best part is it's only 50 cents a sheet.

Hey Cas, the pusher fans turn them mangoes into mango puree which you scrape off and mix with equal parts crushed ice and Baccardi lemon for a nice roadside refreshment. Can't wait for mango season!

I spoke with a fellow who had made sidepipe heatshields out of the gutter cover mesh. They were not on the car when I saw it though. Anyone else try this for heatshields??

Aluminum mesh
Hi, I used aluminum as shown on the pictures on all front intakes.Meanwhile, I changed it for steel mesh of the same look. Aluminum turned out to be to soft, a bee or a little rock caused deep dents and one piece of gravel went through.

Mine are steel, painted black so they aren't really noticable.

Stainless
I'm producing fresh air vents and Bug/gravel rad guards out of stainless steel mesh. The mesh is an industrial product used to filter molten plastic. It makes a very nice upgrade not to mention stronger than aluminum mesh or window screen.

What I found was door screen protector / fireplace screen,
or that is what it was sold as anyway.
It comes in black or the reular aluminium color.
it is 24x36 in size and $17.99 bought mine at ACE hardware.
