FIA wheels on a 427
Is anyone running the FIA-type wheels on their 427? As I recall the bare aluminum 427 comp cars that were parked at the airport (at least the ones that were not on blocks) for FIA certification in that famous 1965 photo were wearing FIA-type wheels, not the Cobra II/GT40 style wheels. Does anyone have any recent color photos of a 427 with those FIA wheels? Could be a cool look, especially with vintage Goodyear race tires (the ones w/o the big white letters).

Here is one from pderouss' gallery. It is a new AC 427 car. I prefer the FIA wheels over the common 427 wheel, and I am glad Trigo is producing them now.

Sure is good looking. Quick answer to the question, hey Lew? If there's a pic out there--Kris has got it.
BTW--go for an "a$$ fitting"--David's got nice hands.
Those visors look nice--different.

Thanks for the tip Specialk, I'm in the hunt for FIA wheels(to go on a FIA, odly enough), and I was unaware Trigo produced them.

My car has ERA's FIA "inserts" on Centerline wheels, pictured below. I, too was unaware that Trigo is producing FIA's now but that's good to know. Now, if they would just do repro Sunbursts...

I actually held a wheel in my hands with Lynn Park standing next to me how they produce them, so I am certain he is making them. That is the only way I would do a Cobra, so I was pretty excited about them.

nice color for that COB, looks like the fia blue(viking blue).
Were the COBs painted the same colors as the CSXs?

Vintage White Letter Tires?
Lew,
Am I experiencing brain-fade? I always thought the Big White Lettered Goodyears were a recent development, not vintage.

All the 60's photos in Firman's books show small embossed Goodyear lettering - not the large stencilled variety.

Stan:
I believe that you are 100% correct, I think that the big letter tires are a fairly new style. I have not seen any vintage photos with the big letter tires. Frankly, I do not like the big letter tires and would prefer the small stencilling or just plain black. I have seen a lot of posts where people were looking for the big letter tires, and I was trying to see if people had pix of the FIA wheels with small or no lettering tires for a true vintage look.
