original csx frame
ok guys, what would an original cobra frame be worth. I am talking about a frame built in the 60's with a csx 3000 seriel number that was never registerd or built into a complete cobra. Frame only. Is it worth any more once completed than say a 4000 series cobra or even close to an original(pre 1968 completed and registerd cobra)? comments? scott

hmmm... tell us more.
Remember, during the 'flap' about the completion cars in the 90's, AC cars documented that no frame was unaccounted for.

fairy tale?
Never registered? Where'd it come from? found in the desert?I don't think there is such a thing as an "original" frame from the sixties unaccounted for. AC had meticulous records, and went to court about so called "leftover" frames from the sixties. Sure it ain't a frame from a "lost" csx car? get the number, (super K, where's it at?) look in the registry, or post it here, we'll find out "real" fast if it's legit.

Very interesting if it's the "real deal". From what I understand from various "sources" it's the FRAME that constitutes an "original" car. Some very old restored cars may have only a fraction of the "frame" left. I suspect when it comes to the old "classics", especially in Europe, their "standards" may be different than ours.
On the one hand, I would rather see a restored mostly accurate very rare vehicle than to have NO vehicle at all.
However, Jay Leno points out there are more "authentic Dusengbergs" now in existence than were ever made in the first place! Whats wrong with that picture?
It's possible this CSX frame would fall into Leno's argument. Time will tell, as will the VIN number!

...there are some that have "whereabouts unknown"
...there are some that have been known to have been wrecked, chopped, gutted, etc.
...but there are no known CSX numbers that have never been built as a car.
(e-x-c-e-p-t one, now that I think of it!)

Sorry, didn't mean to leave it like a cliff-hanger!
(paraphrased from the Registry...)
The first two Coil-spring cars from AC were designated CSX2701 and 2702 when shipped to SA... they were later changed to CSX3001 and 3002 when it was decided to go to the 3000-series for big-block cars.
CSX3001 was shipped as a bare frame and 3002 was shipped as a car. Records at SA show 3001 was shipped to Detroit Styling in Michigan and never returned... probably for prototyping purposes.
...and never heard from again.
S-O-O-O..... CSX3001 was a legitimate bare frame that was never built or titled as a car.
anyone have "Indiana Jones" aspirations?

Ron,
CSX3001 has been known to SAAC for the last few years as new information is in their possession since the 1997 SAAC registry printing..............This new poster is not speaking about that frame I can assure you..................

Wasn't there a pile of parts that was auctioned off last year?
For $75,000?
Don't remember if it actually sold or not, can't find the thread via search, even searching the archives, but I'm pretty sure the pile of parts was for sale at $75,000, the big bIG bIG BIG selling point being the inclusion of the frame.

yeah.. the 'pile of parts' included frame and title to CSX2071..
Actually was not a bad deal.
...but the issue proposed here is a CSX3000 numbered frame that was never built as a car... hmmm, gotta show me.
