It was funny.....
Filling my tank at AMOCO in fayetteville just as kids were leaving a local high school, turns out I was right in the middle of their 'hang out'. they were interested in the cobra so I attempted to gave a short history, they couldn't believe the engine was 35 years old and some had never seen carburetors!. Two comments I remember.....Man, I've never seen an engine with two air cleaners, and...............where's the roll bar for the navigator.

I can relate to that. One of my first trips in the car was to a local Sonic drive-in where all the high school kids hang out on Saturday nights. Upon opening the hood...
"What kind of injection is that?" "It's not injected... those are carburetors." (dead silence) hmm... "It's a 427 side-oiler stroked to 462." "Wow! That thing makes 462 horsepower!?" sigh "No... it makes 530 HP... it displaces 462 cubic inches." (silence again) "Uh... it's a 7.6 liter engine." "Oh! Okay! Wow!" It was like talking to my mother about cars. |
Heh heh
One of BiB's funny stories:
Gas station, filling up.. Cowboy and his lady stop in the next stall.. she says out the passenger window "How much?" BiB, with a wry look "How much for what?" Lady, "How much do you want for the car?" BiB, with a grin "It's not for sale" Lady "Oh, c,mon, just tell me and I'll buy it" BiB, grin growing "No matter how much, it's not for sale" Lady, growing exasperated "Look, just name the price and I'll buy it" BiB, almost laughing at this point "no thanks, but is IS nice, isn't it?" Lady "OK, but it'll be mine soon" Cowboy "Nice car man, cool wheels" Bib watches them leave, shaking his head and grinning ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ |
