Default Need Gas Tank Prep Advise

I have a brand new gas tank, I intend to keep the "zinc color". Is a good idea to coat it with something so it stays fresh looking?

I used a gas tank also, instead of a fuel cell. The reason I did was to have more fuel capacity. The Bronco tank I have holds 22 gallons. The same size fuel cell only holds 16 gallons. Mine mounts inside the trunk and I have a padded carpet over it. It doesn't change color. How are you mounting yours?

PAUL,

My tank came mounted by Midstates, the people I purchased the kit from.

My tank is mounted under the body

I try to maintain a theme of three colors: red, black or chrome. I guess if you really like the zinc color under the car, you'll become a fanatic like me. First you wash the top of the car with nothing but hot water and a sponge. Then you wash under the fenders with a hose and a brush and spray everything you can't reach. Next, you dry the top of the car. Then, you move it to a dry spot, jack it up, and wipe everything under it with old towels. I look for loose bolts and nuts and check all the suspension parts while I'm under there.

I hope this helps,

Paul

I polished every bolt on my car as I put it together. It hurts when I get under the car to find them rusted now. You know, you might think about using POR15 to paint it. That stuff is tough as nails!
