Where's the money?
I know for a fact getting, setting up, and maintaining a web site
is a pain in the butt,
We have been trying to set one up, and have it be user friendly and simple to maintain information in.
I wish it was as easy as this site.
To enter a picture click, browse, & download.
Simple, & easy.
The freindship factor is the best part of this place though.
The humor, the personalities, the disagreements.
All are entertaining.
And I dare say if it was not for THIS WEB SITE the
Windy City Cobras would probably not exist.
That's thirty (plus) of us that check in regularly.
I'm happy to make a contribution just to stay in touch with them.
THE REST IS GRAVY..........
So I guess you either get it or you don't.

And in closing.....let me say this to everyone else who jumped onto the "me too" bandwagon that this site is priceless, well worth the $95 an hour that you make, you either get it or don't....yada yada yada. I agree. 100%. Rah rah rah. It's a great place to go for information, companionship, whatever.
I just question the need for the yearly "fundraising". I know that Brent would never ask for money. Why do others feel the need to?
cheers

Jim, it's because I'm so sexy when all 310lbs of me is crammed into a Cobra, and most anyone would pay to see that.

Judging from the size of his a$$ in the pic, Jambo is loosing weight after dropping the smokes.
Jambo! I kill me!
disclaimer: I could lose a few(50 or 60) lbs myself, so my rotund runnin' buddies are fair game.

You know this thread reminds me of one on the old Cobraforum, A guy named Avi said he had to sell his Cobra due to a business partner stealing funds or something from their business, lots of people did not want to see this as his was a very quick build that most had followed, people started donating cash to help this guy keep his car, he never asked for it, along comes a horses ass named Meat doing everything but calling Avi a thief, He never asked for anything except help selling his car!! You don't want to give don't, I was unable to in the past but will this time for all the reasons stated by others, I love this place, I spend alot of time here and have gotten alot of help here very quickly, put a question up and get 5 responses in 10 minutes.
Thank you Brent for a place to come and "play" during my boring work hours and a big thanks to TURK for taking on the huge task of putting it all in one package for Brent!!!

Hey Brent, THANKS MAN! I love this site. I donated because I WANT you to make MORE money than it takes to keep the site running. Why? I want you to make enough money so you won't get tired of the "work" and wonder, "Is it all worth it"? It IS worth it. This is a valuable service to the community.
Turk, you da man! I saw how Brent tried to stop you, didn't want the money, he NEVER asked for it. Well, this thing is BIGGER THAN BRENT (and thats gotta be big!). I gave a "little more" because I was concerned that not all would or could give.
I don't care what it took in terms of "money" to start it OR keep it going. How can you put a price on a labor of love that keeps you up all night "hacking away" to make it "better"? I write software. Sometimes when the "contract" runs out, I finish the "project" on my own time, because I KNOW it's "almost there". Just a little more "tweaking" and it will be almost perfect. It becomes a 'living thing", never finished, never perfect, needing more. It's my "baby" and I hate to leave it, but in time you have to turn it over to others and move on.............
I "feel" that with this site. Your creation, a living thing, never finished. May you be richly rewarded for your labor!!
Ernie

I was invited to dinner by a good friend and his wife. They are always doing something different with cooking and they enjoy sharing it with us. My wife and I always take a bottle of their favorite wine. We enjoy the dinner and the wine together. Good company, good food and good wine. It doesn't get any better than that.
I don't have to give Brent a cent but I do. I don't need to know what he does with it . In my heart he has provided a service that I enjoy and feel that a small token of my appreciation is no big deal. I see nobody here forcing me to do this . It's here whether
I donate or not and frankly It's my money and I spend it as I see fit. Knowing that someone is willing to put up with the work it takes to run this place is enough for me. Brent deserves a bottle of wine for the effort.
Turk, The Eagle doesn't crap until the First of the month. I'll send my check at that time. Thanks for your help as well.
Hersh

Jim,
After your pointed questions I went back and read everything in here once more, and came to the same conclusions.
I have no boobs, therefore I can't have them twisted.
By the same token there is a "boob" in here somewhere.
How's this for a compromise?
We collect , let's say $10,000 and give Brent whatever he needs to run the forum, and take the rest of the money donate it to a worthwhile charity like Carroll Shelby Heart Foundation.
Would that make everyone happy then?
TURK
BT
I am sorry you are having bird problems too. We started feeding ours fruits and vegetables for a week, and removed the dry seeds from his diet and it helped a lot.
Gordon
Thanks. It is really not a big effort on my part. It is actually a lot of fun to come home and open envelopes with as many checks in them as the ones with bills in them. My pleasure.
