Default Enzo - Finishline Rollbar Bezel Kit

I got my rollbar bezel kit from Enzo. Gonna have to remove the rollbar from my SPF to install it. Can anyone give me some pointers/directions on removing the rollbar ? I've heard it isn't that hard at all.

Also, I have to drill 3 holes per bezel (9 total) in the body to mount them and am a bit nervous about doing this myself. It seems fairly easy but I was wondering if you guys have any pointers for drilling into the body. Like, do I need to use any type of sealant on the holes, type of drillbit, precautions to protect the paint and prevent any type of cracking in the fiberglass ?? Any help would be appreciated.

Agro1,

I can't help with the removal of the roll bar, however, a little tip that I got from a boat builder has helped me with drilling into my fibreglass.

Using a sharp drill bit switch the drill motor to REVERSE to drill your holes. This will keep from "pulling" the material up and eliminate damaging your finish, the tip on the bit will cut through the fiberglass even in reverse.

When I put my bezel on I placed masking tape on the body around the holes, fit the rollbar with the bezel installed on the car and marked the hole placement with a sharpie (the masking tape helped with seeing the marks and was a little extra protection if the drill should slip. I used a couple of drill bits going from smaller to the final size. After drilling your first hole you may want to place the bezel back in place, secure it with a screw and use it as a guide for the other holes.

DEFINITELY USE THE MASKING TAPE FOR DRILLING ALL HOLES. FOR SOME REASON IT KEEPS THE GLASS FROM CHIPPING.

1. Remove roll bar.
2. Slide grommets on roll bar and put tape on edges around hole.
3. put rollbar back in place. (only snug bolted)
4. mark holes for drilling.
5. remove roll bar and drill holes.
6. re install rollbar, tighten and then fasten grommets.

Sounds stupid but don't just center them over the hole and start drilling mounting holes. Notice the roll bar isn't perpendicular to the body and the access holes may not be perfectly centered around the bar. Make sure everything fits before drilling.

Thanks Scott. It does sound a bit straightforward and easy, but those are the times you usually end up screwin' something up if your not careful...Thanks for the advice.

I have yet to do this as mine isn't painted now and I just did a dry fit the other day. They do look nice don't they.

I wished that these rubber grommets were predrilled to match the holes on the aluminum plates.

Anyone know what is like to drill some small holes thru rubber? LOL

I too will use the machine screw and nut. Some simply use a screw that is self tapping style

Whaler - I think the best way to get through that rubber grommet is not to drill, but just tap a small hole and force the screw threw it - thus, keeping the seal tight around the screw and protecing the drilled hole from moisture. The more rubber the better

They are very nice looking though, can't wait for the weekend to load mine up with stuff I ordered from Enzo...Anyone had any experience with steering column bezel - I get to put one of those puppies on too.
