Rear part (don´t know the English word)

Hi everybody! Can somebody please tell me how to disconnect the old axel from the part shown in the picture? (don´t know the english term, I´m from Sweden....). I really want to get going with my IRS!

It's a CV joint. Usually the axle is splined and shoves into the corresponding splines in the CV joint. I always just sent out axles for rebuilding, it's cheaper.

The Axle is usually retained in the CV/tulip with a friction snapring on the end of the axle shaft. Usually a smart rap with a lead or brass hammar will seperate them.

It's pretty easy. Get a piece of 1.5"X12/18"long pipe, put a collar or nipple on one end of the pipe, slide the pipe over the axle shaft and butt the non nippled end against the CV joint. Cover the floor with newspaper, it's gonna' get messy. Lay the assembly on the newspaper. Whack the nipple'd or collar'd with your dodge tool,(hammer), two or three sharp whacks. The CV joint will fall off onto the newpaper making a huge mess, but the pieces will be seperated. Re-assembly usually slides together without problems.
