Exclamation A different where is the money thread

Ok folks, have read through the original where is the money thread, now I have to ask the same thing:

Walk For Multiple Sclerosis 2003

Or do you need to continue on with the other alternate thread .....

Yup, the truth hurts, doesn't it.

Bill,
I wish you well with your efforts. However, as you have seen, I suggested a similar idea on the original thread and was roundly thrashed.

The problem is that people come to www.clubcobra.com for information/companionship/entertainment. We tend to give money to places where our everyday information/companionship/entertainment priorities lay instead of where our hearts tell us to give.

We all know about the heartbreak of MS and other horrific diseases, but most of us don't live with these everyday like we do with our Cobras, therefore it's more important to us to give our money to someone who keeps our "community" alive.

These are good people here and to a person, I know they all mean well.

I am no longer a member of this "community" as I sold my Cobra several years ago. I was a member in spirit however but no more.

I am not a rich man but I do ok. I don't bill $95 an hour, nor do I drive a Cobra anymore. I drive a seven year old Miata and a motorcycle. I have a kid in college and one who will be starting next year. But I will put my money where my mouth is. A check will be sent to you and I wish you and the rest of ClubCobra all the best.

Cheers
Jim

My family and I thank you for your support.

Bill

As I indicated on your other thread, my former partner has MS--had to retire in the prime of his career.

My first cousin died from complications of MS when I was younger. She was married and had a young child when she found out she had it.

My family has been around this terrible disease for a long time, and every year we give until it hurts in my cousin's and former partner's names. This is not a disease of the young or the old--it generally hits folks in the prime of their lives and affects everyone around them.

As I said before, I certainly wish you well in your fund raising efforts.

Jamo,

I'm still wondering how many others here know of someone, or are related to someone with MS, yet refust to get off their respective behinds and either get out there and do the walk, or at least donate to those of us who do.......I'm down almost $800 from Club Cobra members alone vs last years donations..............Just barely over the $400 mark...................At least my clients have kicked in, as have friends of mine here in the NY, NJ, CT, and PA area...................They know who they are........As do those who simply don't care enough to open their wallets for a good cause.................

Frustrating, very frustrating...........

Bill,

What is frustrating is that no thanks were extended to those individuals who did donate. 3 threads started by you, multiple posts, but no positive words offering any gratitude to those who stepped up to the plate with their checkbooks.

Guess some of us 'cheap bastards' who have never even met or spoken with you would like at least a simple thanks - may even cause us to continue the tradition next year.

I agree with Jeff. Don't get me wrong, MS is a terrible, debilitating disease and I feel terrible for you sister, I truly do. However, you may want to recognize the fact that most people don't come here to be solicited and made to feel guilty when they do not show the proper interest in your [worthwile] cause. To create multiple posts on the subject and further subject the users to your personal adversity and then malign and disparage those who do not contribute; is very offensive in my opinion.
I contribute to many charities and also to the research of various diseases - so I am familiar with donations. You are going about it all wrong. One considerate post (in the CC Lounge, not here), with a thoughtful reply would have sufficed.

Cool

Hey GB,

I had something else in mind in regards to thanking those who have supported my event. However, I usually wait until all donations are in before doing so.........Just as I have for the last two years................

Yours In Fords,

Bill S.

Cool

I'll do whatever I have to to wake people up. If it means starting a new thread to move the two stale ones, or to use guilt (funny, it seems to work best these days) by association in order to achieve this worthy goal, than so be it. Those who have donated know that it is greatly appreciated. This year more than any other...........Sorry if I offended you with my threads, if you don't like what I post, don't read them. That is the power of this forum, America, and the domain host known as Club Cobra......

Bill - I agree 100%. I was just trying to point something out that may be helpful in your (as of yet not so successful) fund raising. Good luck.

I don't want to support your charity.

Did you ever consider that?

No Pat, I never considered that...The subject matter of posting here to solicit donations was my concern; NOT contributions to a particular charity. I never said I didn't want to support Bill's cause, on the contrary, I made it very clear that I DO contribute to various causes.

Agro-
I don't think Pat was necessarily replying to you as much he was just providing MrMustang with a possible explanation as to why donations aren't what he hoped they'd be.

In any case, Chaplin hit it on the head....it wasn't about you.
