Not Ranked
I was coming out of big bend and jumped on the throttle to start the S's. All of a sudden I lost power and the engine sounded like it took a dump. I checked all of my vitals and noticed that nothing was out of the ordinary. However, everytime I jumped on the throttle the engine sounded like the bottomend was grenading. I obviously went into pitlane. We discovered that the brackets holding the exhaust in place broke. The exhaust was bouncing up and down and dragging on the track. There were 5 or 10 laps to go so we called it a weekend and headed for the trailer.
However after putting the car in the trailer we discovered that somebody was actually looking out for me. The JRZ in the passenger front blew up. The fluid was slowly dripping down towards the tire.
Either way I would have been blackflagged for a broken exhaust, taken a nasty spin under heavy braking from the leaking fluids, or worse yet dropped my exhaust on the track and created an extremely dangerous situation for the rest of the guys I was racing with.
I think we made the right decision and we are going to rebuild all of the coilovers, weld up the exhaust and get ready for the next race at the Glen in June.
Thanks for the support and see you on Saturday.
