Post Purpose of a Cobra??

Recently, my brother-in-law got to ride in a 427 Cobra. After exiting the car, nearly burning his leg on the pipe, and wiping his watering eyes (from the strong side exhaust fumes), he asked me "Why on God's Earth would you want one of these?" My response was simple:

"The 427 Cobra was built for three reasons:

1. To pollute the environment
2. To use up all of the planet's natural resources

and number three....

To haul A$$!

I can't wait to have one of these in my garage.

Later,
Russ "Cobra before Kids" Dickey

P.S. Special thanks to CC member Chuck Nickloy who recently took me through the Premiere Motorsports shop. Fine factory and even finer cars.

I've given quite a few rides in my Cobra, and the usual response is "holy $hit that things fast"

Most people have heard alot about Cobras but do not realize the feeling you get when you are plastered to that seat.

Purpose?

The look, the thrills, the acceleration, the thumbs up, the friends, there is no other car like it.

Default I have one, because I want one!!

Most of the reasons above are valid for me also.

I like the attention it draws.

I like to talk about my build.

I like to talk about fast cars.

I always wanted one, now it is possible.

In case no one has mentioned it, The are "FUN TO DRIVE".

I'm kind of proud of my "snake bites".

The most fun you can have with your clothes on.

I don't care how fast it is, it is faster than most anything else.

Dollar for dollar, it can not be bested.

Mostly, it is what I always wanted, I am not dissapointed.

All of the above explanations work, plus one, " because I can" I have only met one guy that questioned, why I would want one, the rest have just drooled and said "that is so cool"

My wife who has not expressed any interest in a car in her life fell in love with a Cobra the first time she saw one. It is poetry standing still or in motion. It is a merger of form and function. The experience of being in one or around one is viseral and primal. As expensive as one is to build and keep, it is one of the best buys that can be had for performance, beauty, and fun. It is not practical, but it is not bought or used for practicality. It is bought and used out of pure love. It is also a people magnet. If you do not like people, do not have a Cobra. If you like meeting people, the Cobra gets attention. Having a Cobra is not a rational act. Having a Cobra is an emotinal experience that defies justification or explanation. If you have to ask why, no explanation will do. The reasons are not intellectual but experential.

Art on wheels.

Automobile icon.

The rush of being pushed back into your seat as you accelerate.

Race history.

Hot laps around a road course.

The great people that you meet.

The friendships formed.

Dreams can come true!

Cheers, Pete C
