I have heard that most if not all of them do not work. A local guy tested the products from Rocky Mountain Radar and found the jammer did NOTHING.

Is the lexan plate cover for plates, that has a stepped effect which makes all but straight on angle pictures distorted. This is effective because the cameras are at 20 degrees (or thereabouts) to traffic. I get this info from several friends who operate these cameras for a living.

The "spray" on coatings do not work, according to my sources. As to an active radar jammer, it would be quite expensive to produce since it would seem to need to sense the frequency used by the cop and then respond with the same or similar frequency in an altered state of some sort, something similar to the concept of "white noise" if you will. Then there's laser which complicates matters. IMHO these speed law enforcement tools are a direct assault on the human body since they are RADIATION of a sort. One has to wonder what a LASER can possibly do to the human eye, regardless of what trumped up "studies" may say. I consider them a low grade physical assault, but the "easy money" generated is apparently too powerful a temptation for them ever to be shut down now.

I was once sparayed with radiation from a radar gun hidden in the bushes and operated by a Police Officer in Oklahoma.

The pain was intense. Within seconds after the intrusion of radio waves into my body, I saw lights....red lights. There was flashing lights and very disturbing siren sounds.

I believe I have been permanently effected by this incident. I have put on 12 pounds since, and some of my hair is gone too.

It is very very dangerous to be in the path of such radiation. I think they should be clearly marked, and warnings should be posted to give the motorists a chance to circumvent such areas.

I wonder if I can still sue, after 30 years?

I too have been "painted" by radar from an unknown source. However, in my case the end result was a "high speed driving award". The red/blue lights and the loud noise went away quickly but the financial obligation lasted somewhat longer.

This company makes false advertising claims about his products. The company produces radar and laser jammers. The products simply do not work. I have tested them many times and they have never blocked, deflected, absorbed or confused police radar or laser guns as advertised. Each time I invited Churchman to observe the tests and even instruct us on how to properly test them (even though I believe no instruction should be necessary -- either they work or they don't). He has refused to address our test results.

A few years back I bought one of these marvels. Being a curious electronics kind of guy. I tested it and could get no activity out of it other than a beep tone when I pushed the test button. I finally worked up the curosity to crack open the case. They're glued together. Inside the beautifully styled case I found a single computer chip, an oscillator to generate the test tone. And that was all. It did not have a printed circuit board, antenna or any other components!

I have considered building a jammer. To generate a worthwhile signal, you need powerful components. The parts list I came up with, priced out at over $600. I bought a Valentine One instead.

I have owned quite a few detectors
over the years, BEL (Junk!), Passport
(Good), Escort (Good), and a Valentine.

The Valentine has TWICE the sensitivity
of my Passport. It is the AWACS of
detectors! Mine pays for itself at least
once a week in saved ticket and insurance costs. Get a Valentine, nothing
else even comes CLOSE.

In my experience, you cannot beat the Valentine. I have run just about every brand of detector there is. If your butt's on the line, this is the one to have. There is a pretty good Bel available if you have to keep the price under $200.

It sounds as if the radiation they painted you with came from a UFO.. Unidentified Freakin Officer. Did he arrive in a glowing space ship? Have any strange memories they can use on X-files reruns?

Jammers are illegal (the ones that work) because they transmit on a frequency forbidden to us regular folk. If you just transmit white noise they are easy to detect, and the one my Dad's boss had made the radar read a specific mph so you could cruise at 85 and the policeman would see you goung 70. His was confisacated when he left it on when the car was parked and a policeman drove by with his always on radar. This was 12 - 15 years ago, I don't know if you can still buy them.

C&D did a test on the laser jammers and said they only work well on the early lidar guns, and so did HID headlights. They also mentioned they couldn't clock a Firebird with no front plate and no jamer with the early guns either. Our headlights would be a target spot with no front plate, so if you could cover them in daylight . . .

I had a ZR-1 and decided I better get some protection for my monthly drives to CA. Talked to ZR-1 guys from Texas that cruise @ 160 MPH and they had a Valentine 1 in front and one in back. They'd pickup a trooper and everyone (walkietalkies) would slow until he passed and then pick it up again. I've had one for three years now and can't even begin to tell you how much I've saved, or how many times I've seen people that I'd been running with pulled over. The only problem I know with them is their upgrades are as much as a new brand XXXX detector.Valentine 1
