Default Lets see Aluminum 4000 Values?

The is a car on Ebay that appears to be everything one would want in an aluminum CSX car. I think this one should either be an indicator of what one might be worth on the resale or an indicator that Ebay is not the place to sell them.

This should be interesting.... I think it will be a good indicator of things to come...
I think the last Kirkham didn't make the minimum bid.???
This would make a great contest to guess what the bids will get to...
What does that car sell for directly from Shelby?

Default Price

I don't know what nitpicky detail the car has such as the rare seat tracks & nobs, 240A's, diff cooler or any other rarities but I would assume that you would be hard pressed to buld one for less that $110,000. I never know what gets into the guys that build these that don't really drive them after all that effort to get them built, then they put them up for sale as never registered with no miles.

Hey, Maybe it will take another NC guy to whip them into shape.

Lets see. This should be interesting.

Aluminum Cobras sold at auction for around $160K. Lets see.

Certainly at $70K I wouldn't even think of selling it.

As mentioned above, there is a lack of detail regarding this car. Did you notice that no VIN# for the car was even given - buyer beware?

The only VIN# CSX4000 is the original mule car. I saw it at Shelby's just last week and this eBay car is not it. If it's a CSX, why would you not put the VIN# in the description?

I agree eBay is probably not the place to sell during these economic times. But I think the bigger reason my be due skepticism based on the sketchy info provided.

Default I Say...

It is a beautiful car that the owner should at least spend some time in and enjoy before he sells it.

Default Shelby Aluminum side-oiler?

He doesn't know his engine is just a standard top-oiler design? That would concern me.

Default Steve

Why does it seem that the rear body is sitting higher than "normal" for CSX cars?

It could be an illusion or.....
As I recall there were 2 differet height rear springs that could have worked. I know SAI has changed the setup many times since 4027. I ran low all the way around but it was not practical for the street. The guy who scaled the car might of had a reason if it is high...who knows?

Steve, obviously you need to get your ass back into a Cobra.
Do you honestly think the "Cup Car" is going to generate this much discussion on your off time?
Weather like this is going to give you plenty of "off time".

Plus you could probably pick up one of these inexpensive fiberglass csx4000 Cobras.

The car probalby has an air suspension in it.

Steve,
You bring up a really good point about putting all that money into a car to just have it sit. To build a car and have that labor of love I can understand going for the detail. However, if a person is just going to buy the recreated illusion of authenticity why spend so much money and not just up the ante on an orginal?

The car is well worth over $120,000. Unfortunately my guess is the bidding will top out at $94,000. Simply because Ebay is a great gathering place for bargain hunters especially in the down market.
Not necessarily an indication of what the car is worth.

It is totally a guess on my part to see if I can can guess the final bid.

The "K" car on E-bay a few weeks ago didn't even get a bid. The owner would have taken $71K. This new car is basically the same, but it has the CSX number, which adds value. Add $20K for that. Few people have the sales skills to get $120-160. The big $$$ cars go to impulse buyers, or folks with lots of cash to play with. What do those big dough cars sell for the second or third time around. Easy to buy, hard to sell.
