New Mustang Prototype In Santa Monica
Forget the T-Bird, here's the next generation Mustang. Look carefully under the covers and you'll see a two door coupe. (The only 2 door coupe that Ford builds is a Mustang.) Note also the current generation Mustang tail lights. The "pick-up" shell is completely fake. The car had a REALLY HEALTHY SOUNDING V8 (SVT COBRA???) and was preceeded by a Lincoln LS with Michigan manufacturer's license plates. The Lincoln would drive away from a stop light, the Mustang would wait and then RAPIDLY catch up. A pattern that was repeated over and over again.
The driver of the Mustang "mule" actually yelled at my friend and me for taking the picture. Shook his fist, gave us the finger.... Hello, Bill Ford? About your test drivers.....

What you see, you don't always get.
A single exhaust is VISIBLE. No mistaking the sound of a V8. I am convinced that this car had a V8 in it.

That's pretty crazy! Why the costume? We've all seen pictures allready. Are they trying to drum up some sort of conspiracy theory?

WHAT CONSPIRACY???
It's not THEM. I'M trying to drum up a conspiracy theory.
PS: I saw Carroll Shelby trailing thouse two cars in a Series 1. (Only joking!)
I've seen taped up, flat black and otherwise camoflaged cars just weeks prior to their intros at dealers.
The fact is that Ford still has to sell thge current Mustang. Even though guys on this web site know about the New Mustang, a lot of the general population really doesn't. Ford doesn't want Mustang sales to drop off in anticipation of a completely redesigned car.

I suppose that makes sense Now the real question....Is it going to take on a life similar to the Thunderbird or is everyone & their brother going to be driving one in a couple months, as is tradition with the Mustang

Everyone and their brother. The new Mustang is a nice looking vehicle- I think it will sell plenty.

It looks like there is a very small camera on the roof, along with a cable running down into the car???? Just trying to keep them honest???
Maybe we've all been had and it's the new Ranchero! With a virtual reality module that makes you think you are in a Mustang.

Ranchero by Barris
Rick,
Did you see the article in autoweek about the King of the Kustoms making Rancheros out of current Mustangs in Detriot?

Being employed by a Blue Oval dealer qualifies me for the "D" plan (under dealer's invoice) so I'm waiting for the introduction of the new Mustang. Being an insider isn't much help as Ford won't say when the debut is.
But something is happening, like the $5 a day lease on the Mustang and unavailability of certain colors.
BTW our dealership will be getting a Ford GT and we don't have a deposit on it yet. Anyone interested can email me at bobacosta@juno.com
I will keep it confidential.
