Trick question.....since Connor never really purchased the cobra and isn't listed in the Registry! I do know that the car she "borrowed" was a 289 FIA and if memory serves me correctly, it was British Racing Green.

Yesterday at a show/swap meet I was fortunate enough to find a copy of the first sports car magazine I ever saw or purchased. I remember it so well because of the feature article on the "Stovebolt Special," one of the many Anglo/American hybrids which pre-dated the Cobra.

The world of cars was a lot different in 1956!

From the September 1956 issue of Sports Cars Illustrated:

"Frankly, the much heralded disk brakes made their worst showing against the drums to date. Seems like the more we see of this type of brake in all kinds of competition, the less it looks like the final answer to the braking problem, at least in terms of heavy usage"

And from an article analyzing that year's Indy 500 and the then typical front engine roadster layout :

"... and apparently it's going to be tough to improve radically on the highly developed Kurtis layout."

There were only three automobile manufacturers ads in the whole issue. It isn't a surprise that Triumph is one, but would you ever imagine that the other two were DKW and Arnolt-Bristol?

KOMA 1500 on the AM dial, Oklahoma City in the later 60's This rock and roll radio station would be heard clear out here in California if you were up on a mountain. I think half of the US was covered by their signal.
