Straight shifter or offset?

My new turn key Cobra just came in. My newest dilemma is what shifter should I put in, straight or the offset original cobra style? If you were to do it what kind would you use?

I have ordered a top loader trransmission. Obviously using a strasight shifter, it's too far back. What kind of linkage should I us to bring it forward?

The only linkage I know that will locate a straight shifter further forward was offered by Unique. Typically the small block cars the shifter was forward and straight while the big block cars had the bent shifter.

Unless some one else here knows of another way try Unique.

Hard for you to decide when the tranny isn't yet into the car. Sometimes the bent handle, original style shifters will make your knuckles hit the dash. Sometimes the straight shifter will put the shift handle nearer your elbow than your hand. Depends on the chassis and the tranny being used. I like the bent handle, as it is more original, I even put a toploader shift knob above 5 speeds to keep the original look. Put the tranny in, see where the shifter would be, mark that, sit in car and decide if that is a good spot, or if it should move forward.
