Hard for you to decide when the tranny isn't yet into the car. Sometimes the bent handle, original style shifters will make your knuckles hit the dash. Sometimes the straight shifter will put the shift handle nearer your elbow than your hand. Depends on the chassis and the tranny being used. I like the bent handle, as it is more original, I even put a toploader shift knob above 5 speeds to keep the original look. Put the tranny in, see where the shifter would be, mark that, sit in car and decide if that is a good spot, or if it should move forward.
