Well Bill, there you go again thinking for me. I appreciate that Bill but from now on I can do it myself. You don't have a damn clue as to what I think or how I feel. This post was not designed to disect the thoughts of how you feel after you act like an idiot and slame you car into a rock wall. Get off your high horse Bill.

Ok, boys... the encounter group is breaking up now...

Nuke asked for insurance advice... let's keep it on topic.

Cool

I'm sorry Ron, sometimes I do get passionate about a particular subject or two. I'll refrain from posting on this thread again.............

Sincerely,

Bill S.

THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!

Why do people have to be so nasty?

Nuke, Sorry to hear about your incident. Sometimes "S**T HAPPENS". These motorcycles on 4 wheels can bite you, when you least expect it. That's why we insure them. Good luck with your agent.

remember folks. responsible driving maintains responsible insurance coverage. accidents do happen, but many times they can be minimized or avoided if the head thinks before the right foot reacts. true accidents are unfortunate. stupid accidents get everyone in trouble. not casting stones here, but some good thoughts pro and con have been posted.

unfortunately insurance folks read these forums too...and some probably saw the prior unedited version as well. the ffrog folks were not all very kind either. too many times things get posted like we are talking to our buddys in the driveway forgetting that interlopers have access to the printed word on these sites which many times can bite you/me/us in the end. and, many times the printed word can be misconstrued vs what the audible would have been face to face.

a lesson here : an accident happened. forget the cause. insurance will be tested. we can all learn from that too. no one was injured except the driver and that was minimal it appears, thankfully.

kinda makes ya want to consider AGREED VALUE instead of stated value, as stated value can get penciled by many insurance adjusters where agreed value is what ya get is what ya insured for in a catastrophic loss. a message there too.

good luck with your claim and new car or rebuild. bill

Thanks to all. Like I stated earlier, I have some contacts now and can continue with the claims process. I will however post some pics of the wreckage. Hopefully tomorrow.

Good luck Nuke427. I would like to see the pics.

Boy, I step away from this site for ONE DAY, and look what happens! Shades of the "Embarassment" thread!

I was told when I was growing up (maybe that should read, getting older), that you should learn from your mistakes. Nuke, bummer you had the accident, just make sure you learn from it so that you dont do it again. I am unfortunate in that my cobra is not finished yet but i am trying to get as much experience as i can in the meantime as i can. Whether that be racing a go kart on slicks in the rain, or in a paddock doing donuts. Everything helps.

Good luck with the rebuild,

Andy.

Just a few points I wanted to make.

Yes, insurance people do read these threads. Like me. And David Gagnard. I can't speak for David, but I can tell you I don't go running back to our lead underwriter saying "See...look what these idiots did". In fact, I would try to argue the opposite. The organized Cobra community, such as these forums, do not tolerate or condone irresponsible behavior on the street. (And Nuke, I am not attacking you, you know I've offered to help however I can, I'm speaking in general terms...unfortunately raised by your crash) When we hear about something like this, we frown upon it. All is not lost for Cobra owners. If we can only get more people involved in these forums and encourage safe street driving, and let loose on autox or open track events, we can help avoid these situations in the future.

I do not mean to take sides or defend Bill (Mr.Mustang), as he can defend himself, but having met him on several occassions, I think many people are misunderstanding what he is saying. Yes, it is a shame that a Cobra was destroyed. Yes, it is similar accidents like this that can contribute to insurance problems and bad reputations, but on the grand scheme of things, is that as important as a human life? Whether it was a Cobra or a Ultima or a Yugo, avoidable mistakes like this could have killed someone. I'm much happier that the most I have to do here is step in and offer an insiders help to Nuke than have to either help him deal with a lawsuit from a family member of someone killed or make a contribution to a trust fund set up for his kids if he had killed himself. No, nobody is perfect. We've all made mistakes, I've made some really dumb ones myself. But it is the ones that are completely avoidable and unnecessary that are most disturbing. In that point, I agree with Bill 100%. Again, no attacks meant to Nuke, or anyone else. Just an opinion.

Steve

DROP YOUR HANDS AND STEP AWAY FROM THE KEYBOARD.............

I assume this would not have happened if the car was a big block?

Well, I was having my son (15 years old) follow the thread because he wants to someday be able to drive our Cobra. I thought it would be good for him to read that people make mistakes and that these cars handle totally different than your average car.

But, the contents went down the crapper when mrmustang found it necessary to verbally abuse Nuke427 for his mistakes.

Let’s keep it informative.

Nuke427, sorry to hear about your misfortunes. Best of luck with your claim and your injuries and thank god that nobody else was hurt. And yes, please do post pictures as they leave a hard imprint in our minds of the mistakes of others.

Hector

Well, I'm getting ready to go get pics developed. But off the insurance topic and on the topic of the crash. I have done this exact same thing with my car many times and it seem to handle it differently this time. This was the first time I've done this without the rear anti-sway bar in place. I couldn't get it to hook back up once I put the granetelli lower control arms on. It would sit too low. Would this cause the rear of the car to be "looser" now? Just a thought b/c I run this through my head every night and can't see why it didn't respond like I thought it would.
