Default New Guy Here

I've been lurking here for ages, but thought that it was about time I actually registered and introduced myself.

I'm a long time vette owner and aficionado -- I'm on number 15 Corvette and still love them. But, I've been a Cobra fan for about as long and have been thinking that, if I don't soon get around to actually owning one, my reflexes will have deteriorated too much to enjoy it. I'll keep the Corvette, of course, but every retired guy needs at least 2 two-seaters to keep himself in the game.

So, as soon as I find a new home for my Z28 convertible (wifey probably would frown on 3 hot rods at the same time) and pick up enough information here, I'll make the move. The market sure couldn't be better for a purchase right now, but I only know about 10% as much about Cobras as most of you do, so I'll wait until I graduate 1st grade at least before I move. I learn several new things every time I check in here -- there is more solid cobra information on this site than all others combined I think.

Thanks for all the tutorials guys -- love reading your treatises and learning from everyone else's successes and problems.

Welcome! You will never regret your decision to buy a cobra. When I drive through any town, even the 3 year olds (as well as all the women) give me a thumbs up.

Ken Greene

I noticed in your profile that you are looking for a 351 "winser".
The correct term is 351 Windsor. I don't mean to be picky, but I live 15 min from Windsor where that engine was made. with Windsor being across the river from Detroit it is hard to get respect. That would be Windsor, Ontario, Canada. (the only place in Canada where you got to go north to get to the USA.
I hope you don't mind me correcting you, it is done with love (one cobra family member to another.

Needless to say, I think your plan to park a Cobra next to your Vette is a very good one.

Welcome aboard. Care to elaborate on the Z28?(I have a mullet, and a wife who wants a convertible. It might as well be one I like.)

Thanks guys! I appreciate the welcome.

I'd love to make DVSF III, but I'll be spending that time at my 1st reunion with my old Viet Nam War buddies. This is both my first reunion with them and, also, the first time I've been back in uniform in 35 years -- we're dedicating a memorial to some of our fallen comrades. It's a "must attend" for me -- but, I promise to make DVSF IV.

The Z28 is an almost pristine '91 red convertible that I bought new and has only about 10K miles on it. 5.0 liter/automatic. I waited 6 months for it after I ordered -- they were a rare commodity at the time -- really wanted a 5.7 liter 5 speed, but they wouldn't give that to me in a rag-top because it doesn't have enough structural rigidity. It's always been a great car, but it's also always played 2nd or 3rd fiddle to my Corvettes so I didn't drive it much. If memory serves, it's never once been in the rain.
