Let's see if I can apply this theory to something else.. let's say the Ford Mustang. The first Ford Mustang was produced as a 1964 1/2 Mustang, it's an original real Mustang. 1965 Mustang wasn't refered to as a replica nor has any year after, hell stopped producing the Mustang for a period of time and gave us that lovely little car the Mustang II, still not refered to as a replica, unreal or unoriginal. Ford still makes the Mustang and it's not the same as the 1964 1/2 but still is a Mustang. Ford in the many years that they have produced the Mustang the suppliers of the parts of those cars have change as well as the Mfg plants, but Ford still sell the cars they call Mustang not Mustang Replicas. No matter where the parts come from, where they are assemble, which Ford dealership they are sold from, they are all still known as a Ford Mustang.
In the 60's Shelby American made Cobras, then they stop making them, in the late 90's Shelby American started making Cobras again. Just because they are buying they parts from a different supplier and the final assembly is done in Las Vegas doesn't make them less real or for that matter original just a different year of production.
This point of view is from a very happy owner of a Factory Five original 427 Roadster, what's this world coming to.
This might be a long thread.

Let's keep it going guys! Let's make this the longest thread in history!
BTW, what was this topic?...Oh, right, FFR buying SAI. How the heck did it devolve into another CSX vs. the WORLD debate AGAIN????
All I can say is that FFR better buy SAI or we'll run out of bandwidth debating this crap until kingdom come!

MEAT
If a "newbie" made such ridiculous statements such as yours concerning the PROPER place of the CSX4000 and up series cars I could understand. He's not been around long enough to speak intelligently on the issue, doesn't understand or maybe doesn't even know about the SAAC registry.
But you are no "newbie", your comments truly leave me stunned by your ignorance on this fundamental issue. CSX4000 series cars are in the SAAC registry, end of story, they are REAL Cobras with SOME qualifications as to the meaning of the word.
Your condemnation of the CSX4000 series cars is WITHOUT qualification. Simply amazing that one who has been around Cobras as long as you could reach such a conclusion.
I can only conclude your comments are designed to stir up controversy and cause trouble! I think you know better, why you would say such things leaves me baffled!

If Ford reproduced the "original" Pinto, would ANYONE claim theirs was real?

Oinie
Excuse me, but only a relative "newbie" would take Meat that seriously. Hell--even he doesn't.

Some folks really determine their fortunes by what book their car is in?
See, I just don't get it!
It's not what you drive.
It's what drives you.
Which is probably the biggest difference in the approach to what type of "Value" you put on your type of car.
Form, Function or Fiction?
It's all perspective.
World Record thread run...coming up!

Did you know when you get a stain on a white shirt, like ink or paint...you can take a potato and cut it in half and rub the raw potato on the stain for about 10 minutes?

Naw
It's a new marketing strategy that tractordriver came up with. Turk's helping him with it.

Hey Turk,
Where were you when Bill Clinton needed you? Well, that's if it'll also work on a Blue Dress...
Are we on another page yet?

My 2 cents:
If you buy a Cobra from Shelby, you have a Shelby Cobra. It may have been made in the 60's or the 00's. It may have different components. It may have an aluminum or fiberglass body. It may be refered to as an original or a continuation. But it is still a Shelby Cobra. It is a real Shelby Cobra. It is not a replica Shelby Cobra. If what you paid for it is worth it to you, then you who can possibly say anything. It is your decision what it is worth to you and everyone else's opinion doesn't matter.
I went a different route for so many reasons. I did it because it was what I wanted to do. I started with a FFR kit. I sat down with Gordon Levy (Levy Racing) and planned what I wanted in my car. The frame is different. The body is different. The engine, transmission, suspension, etc. are all different from the FFR donor concept.
Is my car a FFR? Is my car a Levy Racing? Who knows and who cares, but me, really. It has a classic shape and great performance.
Everyone takes a different route. The route they choose. Its right for them. They can call their car anything they want. It is what it is to them. Everyone lighten up.

This is such a riduculous thread it reminds me of watching a train wreck - I just can't stop myself.
Bottom line - Evan has a real Cobra and does anyone really beleive FFR is buying SAI?

Keith

Keith - Does anyone really care if Evan has a real one or if FF buys anything, it won't really effect any of us. It is fun to read and watch this thread bring out the best in everyone.

HOLY COW
I've been away from CC for a few days so this morning I click on this thread to see what I have missed. Talk about a thread going off topic.
Does anyone know if FFR is seriously looking at buying SAI?
I think we would all make life much easier for ourselves if each of us stated that Evan's car is the most perfect example of a genuine REALly beautiful Cobra ever made.
The sun is shining so I think I will turn off this machine and go for a drive.
Jamo
Do you think this maybe a long one?
