Factory 5 buying SAI
Lots of pssst,, don't tell anybody. heard it at Carlisle.
|
Boy wouldn't that be something. Turk would have the most expensive Factory Five Cobra around.
I find this hard to believe though. I think this must be a joke thread, no! Ron :D :3DSMILE: :) |
This would put Evan in a REAL mental ward:LOL:
|
If it is true, it would be a good idea for all CSX 4000/7000 owners to investigate the posssiblity of buying put options on their cars...
|
No joke. This will put the cobra price structure into a tizzy. Rest of the MFGs might as well go out of bussiness. Just think, "REAL" cobras for $11999.
|
Gordon,
Get Evan set up for a fitting for a straightjacket... It's gonna happen... |
If this is so then Evan may want to dump, I mean sell that 4000 series for that $160,000.00 he throws around so freely!!! there may be some free flowing tears going down more than one elitist set of cheeks!!!
|
Oh NO!
I think I'm going to hurl! Quick someone make me an offer that I can't refuse!:D

....Jaysuss! There's got to be an anology here
...what is it? Let's see...."Yugo buys Rolls Royce"?:JEKYLHYDE **) I canNOT believe this is true! What's going to be the reslut of this osmosis? Shelby's get crappy or FFR gets better? I have to admit, FFR seems to have turned a corner, re quality, etc. It might be fascination to see IN WHICH DIRECTION the influence flows!:JEKYLHYDE
|
Thats a beauty Dan, I wish I could make you an offer, I could but you would just laugh at me!! I'm just a poor old refinery worker{union scum no less}:3DSMILE: How about a B&B and $30,000.00 payable at $250.00 a month?? sounds good to me!!! Oh, and you carry the paper:3DSMILE:
|
Fred Timex buys Rolex???
|
Why would that be bad???? Look there are many examples of lower market marks buying or merging with upscale marks.
Diamler/Chrysler for instance. If it turned to be a bad thing for Shelby Cobras it would probably be due to name association of FFR with SAI. I think there it would then be a good idea to for all Cobra owners, CSX 2XXX, 3XXX, 4XXX, 7XXX to investigate "put options" on their Cobras. Cal may be right. Yeah, Gordons is right. Kinda like "Fred Timex buying Rolex" |
"Why would that be bad???? Look there are many examples of lower market marks buying or merging with upscale marks. "
Evan you should really put that stuff to bed. Your car is a FPSB just like the rest of 'em except you put a bullet hole in your wallet to pay for it. It's unlikely that FFR is buying SAI, but it would be good to watch all of you "My car was $100,000" "Rolex vs Seiko" braggarts have a serious melt down. |

Evan will be temporarily detained while he searches for his prescription medications!:D
Evan, it's OK, we'll still like you. Think about all of the NEW FFR friends that will be there to help you with your mechanical problems. ;) Now take a few of those little blue pills, not the Viagra, but the OTHER ones and the world will be right very soon. |
When AMF bought Harley Davidson the desirablity and the value of of HD went down a bunch. There were plenty of inventories and even though it was basically the same bike, no one seem to want them.
It didn't hurt the value of pre-AMF bikes a bit. Actually they became more in demand. This won't be the first time a corporate buy out will seem wrong, but it will all be good on the long run. Between Jaguar and Ford, one would have thought Jaguar should buy Ford. Rolls Royce should have acquired VW. Not the other way around. Yet these things happen, and it is usally good that they do. If some of the CSX4000 owners could go around thinking their cars were the Real Cobras, it is time for the FFR owners to share in that delusion. If this is true, it will give Shelby the much needed mass marketing they lack. It will also help FFR the respect they seem to lack. It won't make the existing cars any better or worse, it just will be a milestone on the calender. If you have a FFR already, you should celebrate. But don't put it on EBay because NOW they are Really worth $70,000. If you own a CSX4000 like me, enjoy the car and hopefully one day if you have to sell it, others will recognize them for what they were. Just another Cobra built during Shelby's reign. It is not time for the cyanide capsule yet. TURK |
Evan will be able to visit the the FFR sites and be one of the boys.
Also does this mean all FFR owners will be in the registry. Wouldn't that be a kick in the pants.   Paul |

Will the base FFR kit go up to $31,999.?(this I say in jest) |
The question is, Is FoMoCo giving up the Cobra name? Doubtfull, with rumors of their 2 seat sports car in the works to be named Cobra. Then , F5 will only be getting the Shelby name, and boy, them Shelby Dodge Horizons are rite up there on the collectable/value list. Then again, this may be a dog and pony sho for publicity, remember the aluminum F5 cars for $6K. Time will tell.

The amf years nearly destroyed Harley, severe dependability issues that still last today in some people eyes, the old "buy a harley ,buy the best ride a mile and walk the rest"I have had 3 90's model Harleys and over 100,000 miles and no problems at all, and I and my wife want another one, we had alot of fun going to various bike runs, I think the Curt Scott article and the donor concept may have hurt FFR for awhile and by donor I mean complete donor parts, but there are some really nice FFR'S out there, Russ Thompsons comes to mind, maybe if this does come about even I can someday have an alloy car:3DSMILE: unless the lottery comes my way there are no Kirkhams in my future!!
