This is the way it should be done!! New Cobra Owner!!
I received a call from a fellow Club member (Wayne Cobb) a week or two back and he was interested in buying our Superformance... Well to make a long story short, he flew out here (Dallas) last week with his son and they decided to DRIVE the car back home to Denver!!!
I just spoke to Wayne about an hour ago and he said he and Brian had an incredible 1200 mile journey! Hopefully he will post some of the great stories he gave to me over the phone.
Well, congratulations Wayne!! I hope you enjoy the car!!! You certainly know how to enjoy it!
Here is the picture of them leaving my driveway, headed toward Colorado.

James-
What's the deal? So now you are totally Cobra-less? You'd better call Peter P. and get your name back on the list.
1200 mile trip to Denver. That would be fantastic.

James -
as you know, that is me in the driver's seat in the pictures. It feels good to be a Cobra owner, and what a way to "break in" the car; driving it cross country. The attention that the car got everywhere was incredible - we literally could not stop anywhere without several people coming up and asking about and admiring the car. Some highlights of the trip:
Day 1: flew into Dallas early morning, James picked us up at the airport and we took care of business and got on the road early afternoon. Spent Friday night in Amarillo.
Day 2: spent most of the day on I-40, which as most people know is along the old Route 66. In fact, at one place we got off the interstate and drove on the old road. One of the nice things about driving an open car is it makes you stop more often, which allowed us to talk to more people along the way. One place we stopped was at the "Route 66 auto museum" in Santa Rosa New Mexico. I recommend it highly - lots of memorabilia, and about 30 or so immaculately restored cars. The best thing was that the guy who runs the museum had to come outside and see the Cobra! Spent Saturday night at my mom's house near Santa Fe. She loved the car.
Day 3: back home by way of Taos NM, FT Garland CO, over La Veta pass to I-25 and north to Denver. Had to put the top up for a while on the pass due to wind and cold, but most of the time it was topless. When we stopped for gas in Taos, a group of about 10 guys riding Harleys came over to see the car. They were impressed, which is something because those guys are usually not impressed by much except other Harleys.
Anyway, it was a great trip; got sunburned and windblown, but it was well worth it.

Great Wayne!
Post some pictures when you get them developed.
By the way - how did it perform at 8500 feet (altitude)? Since I did not rejet it from Florida, I would figure it was a little sluggish.

James-
I will post pictures as soon as I get them scanned to my computer. Wish I had thought to bring a digital camera.
The car did fine at altitude. We did notice some power loss, but it certainly was not what I would call sluggish. Then again, I am more used to driving smaller sports cars and having to keep the rpm's high; having this much low end torque is a real luxury.

I'm glad Jeannie was able to get a few months of seat time in it and win a trophy at the AER carshow in HER Cobra before you sold it out from under her.
The Cobb family certainly bought a beautiful Cobra.

Wayne,
You made an excellent choice in buying a SPF. I suggest that you join three fellow SPF owners in the SCCA Rocky Mountain Division SoloII summer series. The next event is this sat and sun at PPIR. If you wish to participate see rmsolo.org and register for the OSP class. Cobras are great fun in autocross! Hope to see you there.
