I think you'll find your cockpit dimensions are not the same as either of those cars. I'd suggest doing it on a "comfort for the driver" basis.
If you were using an OEM Motolita split ring 16" wheel and hub, with Volkswagen turn signal(which uses lever on the right side of column) the dimensions would then be of more benefit to you.

Thanks Al,
I am using a motolita wheel, but the 15 inch version, and the vw signal lever with hub, signal to wheel clearance is where my problem lies,I am trying to determine where the difference is,my signal slips on the end of the tube fine, but the wheel wont clear,is there an additional hub or spacer between the wheel and steering tube ?thanks,,Tk

The measurement of the steering wheel from the center of the wheel to the dash is 4 1/8" and the measurement of the steering wheel's outside edge to the outside edge of the turn signal shaft
(looking through the windshield at the tape) is 1 3/4". This is with the standard 15" Moto Lita Wood steering wheel.
Hope this helps.

Thanks Dan
Thats what I needed, for the life of me I cant see what I have that is different, but the signal lever hits the wheel, unless they make a vw lever with less offset than mine, but I have looked and cant find one.
thanks again,,Tk

Thats a good question,,is the csx pretty much like the spf ?I cant see why i cant duplicate this set up,my switch fits perfectly on the end of the steering tube, but the wheel touches it,is there a hub or spacer between the two ?it would have to be close to 2 inches thick to clear on my car.
Sounds like you have a nice collection Dan,I am a bit envious,as well as for Allans car,,alloy motor in an alloy car,,wow,,!
thanks guys,,,Tim

Does the steering wheel that you are using have the correct "Dish"? If you are using the 15" Motolita wheel thst was originally intended to be used in the Mustang, it will not have enough dish that creates the clearance you require. Also be sure the correct wheel hub is being used.

Allan's car is a continuation series and much further down the production list!
If you need the measurements off the SPF, let me know and I'll be happy to get them.
BTW: the SPF has the leather wrapped 14" wheel so the measurements will be significantly different. I have both wheels for the SPF but the leather, small wheel is more comfortable for cruising and does provide a little extra room.
