Shelby Cobra 427 - 1967 ... 3d model. Experts advice?? anyone?
For about 2 weeks ive been working on a 3d model of a shelby cobra 427 -1967. This has been quite a challenge as Id never seen or heard of the car until I started. Ive been working off photos and blueprints. I only have about a week to finish this. I thought I might ask here what, if I may call you, experts think needs to be fixed or improved. I can myself see problems with the rear of the body etc. Materials havent been added..so no paint, chrome or rubber etc. I will be doing this later. Just the shape for now.
Website - http://www.geocities.com/mr3dguy/cobra2.html
Club Cobra Gallery - http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/s...at=500&thumb=1
The body has been reshaped a little since then. And I will be starting week3 on sunday with a composition of all the parts.
Hope to hear from you.

Mr3D
I guess this is a 289FIA car?
There is a slight concave area on the top left side of the nose? The cowl looks a little too flat. If it is a FIA car the doors cut back at the rear fenders yours do not. Oh yeah the steering wheel is on the wrong side unless this is an English version. If it is an english version then it is a AC Cobra not a Shelby Cobra.

dMr3dguy,
Like the others have stated, the car you've created is more along the body style of the 289FIA car and not the 427. The sidepipes you have are also for the 427S/C car and not the 289 car. You can either change the body to that of a 427S/C car or change the sidepipes to a 289FIA car. If you want to change the body to a 427 S/C car, the front radiator opening needs to be more oval shaped, an " oil cooler chin" should also be added, and the fenders need to have more "hip" to them.
A 289FIA car had side exhaust, however they were a single pipe exiting from underneath the car without a cut-out in the body. Also, as others have mentioned, the doors need more of a cutback. Otherwise your car looks pretty good.
Cheers
Jim

Yea I think its a 427. What u described matches my reference pics. the 289 likeness is due to stuff I need to fix I think.

The steering wheel looks perfect to us Aussies! Remember, we are 15 hours in front of the U.S. Ha Ha!

Just got another picture up
http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/s...t=1&thecat=500
- Steering wheel moved
- basic materials added
- accesories added
- body fixed slightly
This is how far ive gotten so far. From what you guys have said Im getting the feeling that the blueprints Ive been using might be of a 289. Ill just work from the photos to try and get the 427 shape now. Thanks guys.
Ill be starting on the doors and windows as soon as I get the body shape finished. Any pointers on the body will be very helpful. only got about 5 days to finish this now.
