Question What is the easiest method of registering a cobra in VA.

Hi All

I'm a few months away from finishing my car and I'm wondering what I need to do and what difficulties i'm going to run into registering my car in VA. If anyone out there can help I'd be very greatful.

Also, if registered as a 67 then emissions is not required correct?

Thanks

Thanks again.

Unless VA is different than most other states when you bought your Cobra you should have received a "Bill of Sale" . On your BOS from Shell Valley there will be a serial number assigned by Shell Valley and that will become your V.I. N number. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

Red,
A good bit of the process depends on what you have from your kit manufacturer.
I have two Factory Five cars, and they provide a Manufacturers Statement of Origin. It looks just like a title, with a Vin number and all the details of the car.
Virginia processes that just as it was a regular car purchase and your done.
I have heard of others having problems though, but it always works out that way in the end. I think the problem is that they offer too much info to the clerk and when they hear a buz term like KIT everything stops.

Just go in Dumb, hand them the paperwork and say you want to title and register the car. What ever you do don't use the work KIT. These are component cars. And in no way match what VA. refers to as a kit car,(rebody).

Hope this helps.
Give me a call if you want more info.

Okay, I did get a "MANUFACTRUER'S STATEMENT OR CERTIFICATE OF ORIGIN TO A 427 S.C. COBRA REPLICA"

It does list it as a "1967 Cobra Replica" and does give a serial Number.

I'm assuming I'll use the serial # and the VIN and register it as a 67. If I'm wrong please correct me.

Brad, if you don't mind I might be giving you a call here in the near future if thats okay.

Thanks for everyones help.

Matt
