red/blue
Blykins,
Our Shop has painted many 4000 series cars. The dealer we paint for does most of his in red. The rangoon red. When we first painted a viking blue car, I thought how cute, until we assembled the car. The Blue, HANDS DOWN!! That is one great unusual Color. If you still need the ppg codes let me know.

Viking(princess) blue-as shipped from AC on the original
Would've gone with it on mine but every other Cobra seems to be some variation of blue or red w/wo stripes
Wimbledon white with blue stripes and roundals

Well....that ends that I guess.
The Viking Blues have it...
VB - 11
RR - 1
Meeting adjourned.
Thanks for all your input guys.
Chuck: Thanks for your offer. I'm pretty sure I have the correct PPG code, though. It turned out to be an offset code.
Thanks again to all. Viking Blue it will be.

Now for resale I think red will sell a car better than any saleman. But as a purist Princess blue wins hands down. I'm sorry did I say Princess Blue? I mean Viking Blue!

Saw a beautiful silver example last week, gorgeous! It had ghosted black stripes, very subtle.
As for a red car check this combination out. Not the best shot to show the colour but you get the idea, nice colour coordination with the stripes I thought.
PS, no the steering wheel is not on the wrong side!

Thanks for all your input and opinions guys. You guys are a lot of help. I think I have decided on Viking Blue though. I love the look.
That's a nice look up above Paul. However, I would avoid that car like the plague. The distributor is in the wrong place and the valve covers are rectangular.

WE had a rangoon 64 Galaxie 500 xl in high school It had no orange cast at all and was a great color. I think some of these posts are confusing rangoon red with poppy red.
I'm going to paint mine Poppy Red ppg 60449 just to be different. So I vote on rangoon red for yours.

I have a unique perspective. My car was originally painted porsche gaurds red with no stripe. The car looked great in red and alot different than 9 out of 10 other cobras. I absolutely hated that every car you saw was blue with white stripes. I just repainted my car................. Blue with silver stripes. Pick what makes you happy. I cant really decide which color looks better on mine. They both look great.

Why are almost all of them blue or red? I had a red 69 camaro, looked awesome, but I had to leave a sweatshirt sitting on the seat at carshows so I could pick out which red camaro was mine. There is a world of colors out there, don't be afraid to pick one that is not in the most poular three, it will look nice.
