This is why I don't live in California. Seattle is pretty bad, but hasn't got to this extreme yet.

Default 114 mph in a 35 mph zone

I saw that story also, the guy was in a late model Trans Am, I didn't catch if it was an LT1 or an LS1 but he was doing 114 in a 35. Two girls about 16 years old if I remember correctly backed out of their driveway in front of him, they were both killed outright. The 'black box' gave his speed and noted that he applied the brakes for one second before impact. He should be shot as far as I'm concerned and I bet the parents/families of the girls would think that was not even close to enough.

Thumbs up Good thread guys

..hysterical, Pete C. When ya comin' east (DOWN East, that is)?
...Boy, it's a little frightening to hear "Well it's just progress, I guess..." or, "Well, safety is so important..." comments----remember, not only is "the Road to Hell paved with Good Intentions", but also the old truism "Give 'em an inch and they'll take a mile...". Big Brother, indeed.

Two Mainers I know come to mind when I read this: 1) Dodge Morgan---he gained great fame for sailing around the world NON-STOP on the "American Promise"---a first in sailing...and he parlayed USAF radar-detection technology into "Whistler" radar detectors. Whoever gets a "Black Box Blocker" invented and on the market will be the next Dodge Morgan! (BTW "Black Box Blocker" is MY COPYWRITE------you invent the thing and then share some profits!)

2) Marshall ____________. "Mah-shell" decided marriage and gov'mint were for OTHER people. He used his inheritance (Muthah had a LAWT a Land, by Jesus!") to buy a tiny island. Up goes a shed, a tiny house, a dock and he goes fishin" (lobsterin') for 30 years. Never sells to a Cooperative, never reports his income, has a NIFTY gun collection and the state, town, Feds and other blood-suckers just can't bring themselves to invade his island. Boat is Delaware registered--i.e. a documented vessel with no bow numbers. "Down East" wanted to do an article on him! D'OH! "Why the HELL do ya think I'm OUT HEAH in the FUHST PLACE!!!!!!!!!" He's 78 now, has no kids and likes me "like a son". You listenin' PeteC------?

Fred,

Have you thought of a little couch time? I was hoping that the Cobra would be therapeutic but it doesn't seem to be working! I leave for Bah Habha on the 15th of the month and I'll contact you!

Cheers, Pete C

Default Petie, me boy!

Can't fit on the couch with you there!

Gimme a shout when you're in Maine! I'm going back and forth, sometimes with boat sometimes without. Cobra's getting new front end, roll-bar, wheelsetc. etc. Probably won't make DVSF3--doesn't even look like I'll make Lake George! Are y'all bringing your peerless car or flying academic-class?
