On the road again...
After a series of short shake down trips to make sure nothing was leaking, loose and everything was doing what it was susposed to my wife and I took the Cobra out last night. Those of you familiar with Tulsa may remember the 3 mile parking lot of the Woodland Hills Malls on 71st street (which I had the best intentions to avoid). But, as fate would have it I was in the heavy traffic before I knew it before I could take another route.
The Cobra performed beautifully for over 20 minutes in stop and ROLL traffic never exceeding 20-25 mph. Water Temp never got above 190 deg, oil pressure was constant at idle at 35 psi to about 70 psi at 1500-2000 rpms. Finally, got away from all the shoppers and headed down to 81st on our way to Paddy's (an Irish pub and restaurant) when one of these rice burners came up with the wings, ground effects and chrome tail lights (you know what all the kids are driving these days). These guys insisted on racing, but I didn't bite. Finally, they drove by about 60 or 70 mph. Next, two young babes drive up beside me and ask when they can have their turn. My wife is use to this by now, and promptly tells them they can have their turn after I drop her off in a few minutes. During the night I had several more challenges by the guys and the ususal thumbs up and the always flattering offers from the young ladies (two were anxious to show me/us how they got their "Girls Gone Wild" T-shirts). That was when my wife suggested we cruise an area a little closer to our new home.
Man I love cruising in my Cobra as much as I enjoy the track time. I did get to romp on it on the way home, I love my new 2X4 carbs. Rev limiter works too...did I mention that. Things are good again.

Clois,
Couldn't you have dropped the wife at the bus station and given a ride or two to the babes?
I know mine would have been glad to take the bus back home.

Thanks everyone for your support over the last few weeks but the cruse the other night was good medicine for my soul. Wife understands my relationship with the Cobra and the attention it attracts. Fortunately, she can't and doesn't want to ever drive it! Who knows what kind of offers she would get out in the Cobra by herself.
I was susposed to take my Cobra to the shop for a dyno today but it is like a San Francisco morning here (a little drizzle and fog) This is not a good time to be on the freeways around here. I will wait a couple of hours and see if the roads dry up like it is predicted to do.
