Anyone running a 390 Superformance?
Anyone running a 390? What transmission is it mated to?
Also, did anyone with a Supferformance actually do their own Engine and Tranny install? If so, other than engine and tranny what else did you need? Clutch? Intake? So on.
Also considering a Pegasus Racing (427Cobras.com) as it woudl come turnkey.
Will be for street, needs to be very driveable. I love the sound and look of the big block but don't need more than 400 HP.
Thanks, new member,
Robert
PS Girls are 7 and 1 month and I convinced wife to put college funds into a Cobra as she saw that good kits don't depreciate more than 5-10K and we have a long way until college, and teh fun would be worth it.
Have to love our understanding wives!

someone in ohio did a 390 with tri-power in their spf. beautiful combo and he did the install himself. i dont' know his name but i saw the car in april when i was down at dynamic .
many spf owners did their own install. as to what you need, contact a spf dealer and they will tell you as well as the cost for same thru them.
spf has a do it yourself installation video which is quite good and there could be other spf owners in your area who did their own install and could give you some advice.
others on the forum who did their own install will probably speak up, mine was commercially done. good luck. bill.

I completed the install on mine, along with a friend, in 1999; a 351W. At that time, and I assume this still continues, the dealer provided a worksheet that shows all needed components to finish the car. When I completed mine, the Olthoffs provided a worksheet that showed up to 3 different parts suppliers (Ford Motorsports and two well known parts suppliers) that included part numbers.

Check with Misfit41 about 390s...
...apparently, he was intrigued by my statement, re the "390" and was interested in knowing more about them. I mis-cited data, re the 390---I should have said a "390 hp 351 Cleveland". I do know that 390 Clevelands did exist in quantity---being used in Jersey sea-skiffs, crackerboxes and such race-boats. Good engine---upwards of 450 hp and a real "winder". Good luck.

Robert, thank you for your interest in one of our offerings. If you haven't done so, please carefully read ALL of the information we have on our website, www.427cobras.com. While you are there, please take a moment and fill out the "contact us" button. You will immediately recieve an additional E-Brochure with more information still. And if that doesnt do it, E-mail me and I'll snail mail you one of our carshow hand out brochures.
Its very true that Superformance, ERA and others make a SUPERB roadster. I believe, however, that if you CRITICALLY compare the premium components on our car that come as standard features - not options - and the fact that we build to defined standards which are checked in accordance with ASQ standards - and we deliver it to you in a shorter time frame than anyone around....you will come to an inescapable conclusion regarding "us" versus the "other guys". We believe that you simply cannot find a better VALUE in the market today. And we welcome this CRITICAL review. The closer you look.....the better we look.
Please also contact me regarding our "Designated Driver" program. Its an opportunity to get several thousand dollars in options...free. Its also an opportunity to earn a substantial sum of dollars over the next couple of years.
All the best....and whichever car you choose, Brother Man, you're gonna be STYLIN' come Saturday night!!!
