CSX Identification tag
Guys,
Anyone know where I can get a reproduction of the original CSX identification tag for my cobra. I want to do the car right, and hunting down the correct tag is turning into a nightmare.
Thanks,
Romanbuilt

Roman,
I'm not sure they are available any longer.
Besides, why would you want to install a Shelby CSX plate to your new Shell Valley?
I think the reason that they are no longer available is for legal reasons, some cobra owners were installing the CSX plates and trying to pass the cars off as Real Shelby Cobras. That was called FRAUD !!
I believe, the only place you can buy a CSX plate now, is from SIA, and it comes already attached to a Shelby Cobra !!
Post some pics of your new car !!
Bo

Romanbuilt,
I have both original type chassis plates: one from Shelby and one from AC. I initially stamped them but would like to have a set engraved more professionally. Soooooo, I simply went to Tony Brandas web site and ordered one of each at 15 bucks each.

Mine
There is one on my car that covers the hole left in the dash by a radio. I am going to put in a glove box and get rid of it!

Roscoe;
Thanks for the info. I had wanted to make one similar to the CSX tag for my Mustang with something to the effect of "Manufactered By DG Motors" my initials...then I was going to put "DGX 0001" as my serial number, like the CSX number but using my initials since I built it....I'm going to order the CSX tag and use DGX 0001 as the serial number, should raise some eyebrows and cause a few people to ask some questions....
All in good clean fun........

Why would anyone want to put a CSX tag on their replica? I thought things such as a "name" or "manufacturer" don't add any value.

Guys,
The nuts and bolts of it all is simply this, we are all building kits that are replicas of Shelby's cobra.
For the same reason I dont put a corvette nose on it, I would like a reproduction of the ID tag. I plan to do as much as possible of the car to the original true specs of the cobra, so that I can FEEL what they felt, driving it, looking at it, washing it, back in the mid sixties.
Some things like the side oiler and even a correct frame reproduction are more difficult to come by an Id tag may be only a small part, but it is true to MY cobra fantasy. Anyone with half a brain would know that a REAL mid-sixties Shelby cobra would not be driving to cruise nights at the local burger shop.
Thanks for the help guys.
