Assume? OK, relax and enjoy the well deserved afterglow.
With the possible exception of Jenny being well enough to attend, or David picking my name out of the hat, I couldn't imagine a better weekend. A couple of threads have already started with ideas regarding "IV" and I thought it would be a good idea to collect them just in case.

Make the "Cobracross" (autoX) more "Cobra-friendly" with longer straights, (but not TOO long!), larger-radius curves, with possibly a skidpad to do "donuts" on! JMHO!

Assuming there is a IV.......
The CobraX was set up at twice that size but OSU made us cut it down. Next year it will be! But you will still probably not get out of second. To many safety issues if the speeds are to high.
Skid pad, I like that. Another way to get some bragging rights!
I agree on the tree and slips.
Tom, in the registration have check boxes for each event indicating if they are going to attend that event. So we will have some idea up front of numbers.
There was some discrepancy between the site and actual event schedule that caused some confusion. This was most noticable for the parade through Columbus.
If we continue to have the parade, then perhaps have the drawing after to get more participation in the parade. We had maybe 30 cars max.
All in all I thought a better event than II.
I for one don't think it needs to keep getting more 'spectacular'. If we all have a place to gather and have fun as a group for me that is good enough!

Keep us updated on the odds of winning...whatever, Kirkham, scooter, quilt, pie, cookies.
Any idea at all how many raffle tickets were sold? Is this a big secret for some reason?
Curious as to the results of the decision to raffle rather than ebay the car on the proceeds to charity.

I want to be there next year!
The last two years DVS II and III has conincided with the Mid-America Ford Performance and Shelby event in Tulsa. I hope next year they are a couple of weeks apart. That would free up at least 35 or 40 more Cobras'.
By the way Ed / Tom I really thought I was going to win the Kirkham this year! Maybe if I can make it next year I will be at the drawing and improve my odds. I am glad everything went well for DVSF III and even if I cant' make it next year I will continue to buy those raffle tickets. The cause is right.

DV, as stated, enjoy the afterglow of this event. What an incredible thing to pull off. You and the crew do a phenomenal job. I think it's pretty safe to assume we are up for DVSF IV if you are. I've already got reservations on my truck and trailer again.
A few thoughts I had about the event. And none of what I say is any criticism about DVSFIII, because we had an absolute blast!!!! Would it be possible to make Friday nights reception some kind of outside event (weather permitting)? I don't know if it is feasable to do it by the lake or not. It seemed to me that so many people spent most of the time outside, especially after dinner was served, that the band was inside playing by themselves. Do you think it would work to set up the food and band outside, and use inside as a rain contingency?
Do you think it would be beneficial to flip/flop the events of Saturday and Sunday. I noticed several people said they couldn't attend Sunday, but made Saturdays' show. Also, lots of people, including me, left early on Sunday to get home at a somewhat decent hour. I hated to leave an event with lots of things going on. If all the activities, such as the autox, drag strip, scales, dyno, parade, and such are on Saturday, maybe more people could attend them all. If they want to leave the car show early on Sunday, then they will.
Again, those are just random thoughts, nothing more . I will be there next year, and have told so many other local Cobra owners who didn't come that they need to be there!!
Thanks again for a great time.
Steve

If you didn't have a great time at DVSFIII it was your own fault, or maybe you should have visited the "GASHOLES" for five minutes to really have a great time, any longer with that group you could get corrupted. I suggest we start it earlier...like wednesday thru sunday...or maybe just make it a DVSF IV "WEEK". The days and nights go way too fast...which makes the event so so short. GREAT JOB DV and DIANNE and all the rest involved

Hmm...
Pack less into each day, start later, make the hotels an 'official' event and make it last longer. Could be good!

Second gear is OK for the autoX...bigger,"sweeper-type" turns would be good for getting the Cobras sideways...klayfish had good ideas for swapping events on each day...I also had to leave early Sunday morning to catch a plane...

I think people were outside because the weather was so nice!

Have a airbrush artist station set up at the motels fixing everyone up a t-shirt with big letters on it with your name, username ... so I don't have to walk up all squintey eyed reading then (extra nice) name tags...
I hate I missed talking to a bunch of folks because I just didn't know who they were..
More trash cans.. and more $hit houses......

Sizzler,
Who the heck said it was a secret? We are just now getting the full count of all the fundraising events, including the raffle tickets!
Tickets were sold by Flingers, supporters, friends, and of course on the web. I do know that we sold 508 tickets alone, for the 3-day weekend. More than we sold the entire time the tickets were on sale on the net.
See the latest new thread 6-24
DV It IS good, but it could be better.

Some thoughts and some broad strokes
From what I have seen and heard there are some apparent themes. With that in mind, let me know what you think of the following:
- Extend the event
- Have the lake party at the hotels. What we save can be spent on a stage setup. Outside would be great. Does these hotels have convention facilities? We book every room in those hotels, they can through in the facilities. I can practically gaurentee that they never see 100% occupancy except when we are there.
- For the most part, shut down the events before dinner time. Make the hotels an event in themselves. Don't have to worry about drinking and driving!
- Keep London but maybe have it on Sunday. Drawing right there and then.
- The number of cars that showed for the Columbus parade does not warrent it. I have participated both years and it is way cool but unless there is more energy around it, scrap it.
- The 'Lube' was flat this year. Why? No band? We couldn't so burn outs? Thougts?
- Have one of the days, probably Friday, for 'discover Ohio' type day. Visit the airforce museum at Wright Patterson airforce base (very cool, rumored to have stored alien bodies!), go out to Mid-Ohio for the vintage GP (this year the featured mark was corvetted, image the look on their face as we roll in), go to the american motorcycle association museam, check out some of the beautiful country side, go to the balloon festival or any one of a dozen other festivals, check out COSI, the zoo, check out the arts, historic neighborhoods and sites, fine dining, great pubs, fantastic golf, some of the best amusement parks in the country, water sports, etc, etc, etc. We can tell you what is going on, what there is to see and everyone have a nice relaxing day doing there own thing with other Cobra owners.
- Keep the airport event. official timing set up. or better yet
JAY, JAY are you there???????????
lets go to TRC (transportation research center, the one with the 7.5 mile oval). I couldn't seem to locate its home page. Help please. What a place that would be! Perhaps we could even book Mid-Ohio. If everyone kicked in an extra $35 dollars or so it would be ours for the day! But at TRC, we could have it all!
- Keep the CobraX, but at a larger facility
- Keep the dyno guy coming!
Some of these places would give us a chance to push the car as much as you care to in an environment built for racing. But if you going to push that hard and fast, might I suggest no passenger. At least not the general public.

Ditch the band. I can hear music anytime, but I can talk face to face with everyone only once a year.

The band
I am afraid that I am going to have to second the band vote. Cool as it was, I think we could maybe have more fun with that money. Getting this group together is a built in party in the making. There is no need for help in getting the party started!
